Cyber-bullying Cyber-bullying is the use of the Internet, cell phones, or other electronic communication devices to spread harmful or embarrassing information about another person. With kids using electronic technology and communication tools such as social media, text messages, chats, and websites a new form of bullying begins. Some root causes of this social injustice would be the internet as it gives kids an online version of teasing that commonly exists in schools along with the potential of a very large online audience. A lack of education is also a root cause of cyber-bullying because most parents do not talk with their children about the dangers of the internet, more specifically: computer ethics, rules of conduct, and establishing computer consequences. A decade ago, cyber-bullying was not even a word but with the creation of technology and the internet a new way for kids to harass and humiliate was born. Bullying has been around for many years but with the advancement of technology this injustice seems to be relatively new. No group of people or individual gains anything from cyber-bullying or bullying in general except for maybe their own entertainment but there can be an infinite amount of people suffering. Teens and younger kids simply do not know how much power words can have on a person and these kids getting bullied are more likely to use alcohol or drugs, skip school, have lower self-esteem, receive poor grades, and many more negative reactions to the put downs and taunting. There are many reasons why cyber-bullying continues to occur. Sometimes to keep from being bored teens and younger kids initially harass, humiliate or intimidate someone to create some excitement and without understanding the severity a negative remark can have, kids don 't see any reason to stop. Cyber-bullying also allows bullies to avoid facing their victims, so it requires less courage and gives the illusion that bullies will not get in trouble. Other steakholders
