NATIONALISM
Nationalism, according to a source, is a political ideology that involves a strong identification of a group of individuals with a nation. Nationalism is your devotion or attention to your own group or nation. It is shown through support by admiring one’s own, helping others within the nation, choosing the nation above others, and doing something helpful, for the nation. Nationalism is what drives people to stay, speak, teach, and share their own culture, language, country, and home.
Nationalism should be taught to everyone by being an example or a model. If you say you are nationalistic, you prove it. You buy stuff produced from your nation, you choose to help those who are your own countrymen, and you promote your nation to others. You must let others see what nationalism is, not just through words but through actions.
In addition, the best way to teach nationalism is to teach them to children. As a verse in the Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old he will not depart from it”. Things are best taught to young ones because they have more years to be trained, and they hold the future of the country. They in turn would teach the next generation and the cycle would go on.
Today, nationalism is widely promoted in the country. The government agencies, media, and others encourage nationalism in every way possible. Through billboards, advertisements, paper works, and etc, nationalism can be seen, but they are not always handed directly and are sometimes profound. Coping up with upcoming situations like disasters, wars, etc, the country does promotions and prepares trainings (NSTP, ROTC, CWTS, etc.) to teach university students how to act and be prepared in these situations.
The country’s current state in terms of nationalism is not that high and promoted. More promotions, more lectures, more speeches, more examples, more heroes, more love for own must be given to everyone. Those who have words that have the power to touch lives, to move people must be trained. We must go out, tell and show everyone how important nationalism is, and its effects for the betterment of this country’s generation and the next.
