Customizing Cars Research Paper
Customizing cars is a hobby of mine that I have learned much about. There are many things to learn when it comes to cars. You can work on the suspension, exterior, interior, or even the system. The products you can buy are endless. That does not even include what you can do yourself custom done. It costs money, but in end, you can turn heads. Suspension is a major modification. This will cost you anywhere from $400-$1,500 depending on the quality, and how low you want it. Many vehicles sit higher in the back. When you lower it, you will want to even it out. So most cars come with a "2/3 drop". This means that you lower your car 2 inches in the front, and 3 inches in the back. When you start talking about trucks you can get even lower. You …show more content…
These replace the orange-covered lamps. They look clear but you can still see the orange bulb. This is a nice touch and an easy way to start out. You can also put in a billet grille. This is a grille that you can replace with you stock grille, or bolt it on top. It has many chrome bars that run horizontal across the grille. There is also the speed grille. This is a chrome grille with many holes in it. They make many types of hoods too. You can buy one with a scoop or one that may even be carbon fiber. Hoods can give you a conservative look, or a mean muscular look. Shaving is a neat job too. This means that you can take off your door handles and any emblems you want. People have even been known to shave their taillights. You can buy a custom taillight and mold it into the back of your truck. Lighting is a neat accent at night. You can put halogen bulbs in your headlights that will give off a blue tint. This stands out very nicely on the road when you drive next to all of the cars with a stock yellow headlight. It also gives your headlamp a bluish tint during the day. You can put bulbs in you corner lenses and your blinkers that will shine pure white at night. When you lower you car you can put an underbody neon kit on it. You can also put neon lighting in your grille or under you hood. You can put a cover on the back of your car called a tonneau cover. This looks neat and is a nice accent. You can buy it so that you can fold it up and …show more content…
There are many things you can do with this, such as painting it. I have done this one and it is difficult but it gives it a nice look inside. You can put in gauges or even a neon here and there. With the gauges, you can give your interior a carbon fiber look, or a chrome look. Most car guys put their neons under the dash or under the seat. Some put them behind there air vents. You can also fiberglass your interior. This is a very tough job and should be left up to the people who know what there doing. What you do is basically take off your whole dash and mold it to the way you want it to look. You mold it around your CD player and some even make a slot so that they can put stuff in there. Many also custom paint this. For all of the different neons and other accessories requiring a switch, you can put them anywhere. You can drill holes in your dash, or in the

The first thing you should learn about is changing the oil. This is one of the simplest preventative maintenance tasks you can perform on your car. It is also an extremely important one. A basic oil changes start around $40 assuming you go to a repair shop or service center such as Meineke or Jiffy Lube, instead of a dealership. This will only cover the cheaper oil and filter, along with a visual inspection of critical parts. You can do this at home for around $20 and about 2 hours of your time but with much better results. You can get higher quality oil and filters, which will help extend the life of your vehicle, and the longer you keep a vehicle the more money you save by not having to buy a new car. Also, while you are changing your own oil, you can check the other critical systems in your vehicle. If you take the extra time to really check these systems instead of just glancing at them, like they would at the service centers, you will have a much better idea of how worn out the parts are getting. If you know how much wear and tear is on your parts you will know when to replace them and when they can wait to be replaced. These systems include brake pads and rotors; fluid levels, such as power steering, transmission, brakes, and coolant; and your tires.…

The inside of the Mustang gives one a very sporty and retro styling as so as the door opens. One is instantly drawn to the silver dash, which is nicely surrounded by black synthetic to make it really stand out. This brushed nickel is accented throughout the inside of the car; on the shifter and the door handles, as well as the steering wheel. The Mustang also has a feature which allows one to change the light color of the gauges, which are embedded in round chromed rings to any color one could think of, also allowing the owner to customize his or her own color. The seats are wrapped in leather, are very comfortable and help to hold the driver in the seat in hard cornering situations. The Dodge Charger is almost an identical replica of the Mustang interior. The dash shares the same brushed nickel look and the seats are also nearly identical. Dodge in my opinion could have been much more original and came up with their own design, instead they just robbed…

In the 2010 models the winner of the styling contest is a bit of a toss-up. Both rides sit low while showing off their muscular curves. There is less than a fine line when determining whether smooth curves or ripped definition defines sexy styling. The Camaro features aggressive sharp angles while the mustang appears aerodynamic and speedy. The Mustang's grill is slim in contrast to gaping mouth of the Camaro. The interior styling seals the deal for those with the pocketbooks to consider test-driving. Ford has implemented premium styling in their Mustang. Chevy's interior design for the Camaro is unique and striking. The Mustang's short shift knob is a sleek and shiny aluminum, while the Camaro shows off a sexy jet black leather knob. The Camaro shows off an array of performance gauges located under the stereos message center and air conditioning controls. Chevy adds excitement with colorful accents to the doors, seats, and dashboard. While the Mustang lacks this sort of abstract appeal, Ford offers up a classy approach. Customizable dashboard lights and a gigantic 8 inch touch-screen message center, featuring a modern GPS system. Up-scale trim gives the Mustang a superior soft-touch feel. Overall these observations are less than the deciding factor-the buyers and fans. Taste will separate the buyers. Muscle car allegiance will separate the true…

The goal of this project was to build a mousetrap powered car that would be able to travel in a straight line for five meters. The team of partners could build a car designed to either travel a far distance or focus on speed and travel the five meters in the quickest amount of time. A mousetrap car works when one end of a string is tied to the arm of the mousetrap. The other end of the string would then be tied around the axle, this would stretch the mousetraps string which would provide stored energy. Once the mousetrap is released it will pull the string off the axle which will cause the wheels to turn and result in the car moving. There are many physics concepts that apply to the mousetrap car such as Newton’s laws.…

    History of Import Tuning

    • 586 Words
    • 3 Pages

Modifying cars has been a popular hobby for American youth since the 1950s. Modifying, also known as tuning, started when teens in the ‘50s wanted to make their V-8 muscle cars faster. Fast-forward forty years to southern California in the early ‘90s; the gas prices had risen and teens still wanted to go fast. A small group of people, mostly Asian Americans, began to modify their compact import cars. These people began a trend that would impact American culture for years to come.…
