Curiosity
Curiosity
To distrust what is always said, what seems, to ask odd questions, interfere in dreams, leave home, smell rats, have hunches does not endear cats to those doggy circles. To value one thing, and believe in one thing, does not restrict you to only believing in that, and not the opposite. I believe in the value of curiosity. Although some days I’d rather go swimming in a community pool, not a raging river.Taking risks does not make you curious, exactly. Let’s say you jump off a cliff into water, not knowing, or caring about the consequences, you’re trying to get the adrenaline pumping through your veins, you’re taking a risk. Needing to know how your book ends, and staying up all night reading, makes you curious. You have a strong desire to know or learn something. Face it… Curiosity will not cause us to die-only a lack of it will.
Finding the in between is what I hope most people want. Curiosity might have killed the cat, but curiosity also solved the case, saved the lives. Cops, detectives, FBI, and many more, have risked their lives numerous times on what they call a hunch. Instead of gather all the evidence and staying comfortable and secure with your decision, they get a weird feeling in their bodies telling them what evidence will over time. They follow that feeling and risk everything, they’re curious, they want to know, and they’re taking a risk. All because of a feeling they have.
I love risks, I love being curious, and I love when I can combine those two things to do something exuberant, breath taking, and tremendous. I can’t say how many times I’ve done something dangerous, who can say that they’ve jumped off a cliff, thirty feet from the cold raging rapids of a river, just because they wanted to know the feeling of adventure. I know that everyone, who has ever lived past their adolescent age, can say for a fact, that they’ve spent days comfortable, and secure. Yet it should be the other way around. I could not imagine living a life without feeling the soft wind hit my body and flow through my hair, after jumping off a bridge, with only some elastic ropes, and a harness keeping me from plunging to my death. Without feeling that warm air caress my body before riding a waterfall like a slide, into the freezing water of a mountain.
Everyone who has lived past their adolescent age should have seen the other side of the hill, or that improbable country where living is an idyll. The other side of the hill will leave you breathless. That improbable country you read about in books when you were a kid is nothing like you’ve ever seen before. Take the path that you need, the path that will lead you to success. Anyone has a story, a tale, but only the curious have, if they live, a tale worth telling, a tale worth hearing.

“The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences.” ( McCandless). Christopher McCandless a young man wanting to experience life to the fullest in the Alaskan wilderness without a plan. I support Cellarman's argument about McCandless is ignorant due to his lack of planning for his trip into the wilderness, but I disagree with him because I think McCandless courage nor his ideas are very inspirational.…

Adventuring is an effective means of reviewing our understanding of the world. When we engage in different experiences, we uncover aspects of our self that lead to emotional revelations. Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara’s memoir The Motorcycle Diaries details his travels through Latin America with friend Alberto Granado. A mix of informative and idealistic revelations, Guevara challenges the reader to accept his changing perspective of society through personal interactions. The Triffids’ 1986 music video for Wide Open Road, written by David McComb, shows the impact of a spontaneous reaction to a broken relationship. Although the catalyst for these travels vary, both texts explore the emotional discovery possible from new experiences.…

Leaving everything and everyone that ever loved you and disappearing into the wilderness with little asks for a lot of courage. Throughout Jon Krakauer’s Into the Wild novel, the main figure Christopher McCandless takes a wild expedition into the heart of Alaska. In McCandless’s case surviving in the woods did not go into his favor, but becoming a hero did. Writing a 200 page novel is not something that an author would do for an ordinary person, It is done to acknowledge somebody that has been outstanding in their lifetime. As the journey of a lifetime was accruing right in front the chris’s eyes, he was able to give off the heroic qualities of, having a go ahead attitude, attentive planning, and a true kind nature. While some readers may view Christopher McCandless’s ideals as being ignorant, his determination and courage lead his transcendental lifestyle which should be viewed as heroic.…

In modern culture views on curiosity are very contradictory. On one hand curiosity is rewarded yet punished under a different light. When looking back on the past society find is very easy to praise curiosity as if they have be advocates from the start, yet when regarding present day present day encounters with curiosity potential revolutionaries are mocked every day. An example of this mockery made can be found in the discovery of the atom. The theoy of the existence of the atom was first proposed in the 5th Century B.C by the Greek philosophers Democritus and Leucippus, but because they were punished for desire to explore by society at that time, the mere possibility of the existence was not considered legitimate until the 19th century, where it was formally discovered by John Delton and Amedeo Avogadro. Now when people looks back on…
