Cultural Experience Analysis

I never realized how experiencing a different culture would impact my life for the good. Experiencing a different culture made me aware of how lucky I am to live in the United states, how people can come together in times of need, how loving and caring people who are less fortunate than me can be, and how truly blessed I am to live in a safe environment. I am so blessed to have been given the opportunity to go to Guatemala on a church mission trip. That week of my life changed me forever. It all started out very early in the morning. I woke up at 5 o clock to drive to the airport and wait to board the plane. I saw a lot of strange faces in the group I was going with, I didn’t feel completely comfortable, but when traveling you have to go out of your comfort zone to witness amazing things. All of a sudden an announcement came on overhead, “Attention everybody boarding the Guatemala flight, the plane is having problems starting up. But it is so worth it. Putting myself in that situation brought so much happiness to my life. I built so many relationships in the Village of Chuluc. I can truly say that I have family in Guatemala. I will continue to go back, there is always more to be learned and there is always something you can do to help out someone else. I believe I didn’t teach those kids anything, but they taught me so much more than I could have ever imagined. Guatemala will always have a place in my heart, and the people there have changed my perspective on traveling. I am so happy I got to experience this
