Cultural Competence In Counseling
For counselors to have a good sense of worldview with elementary children they need to understand the world, including attitudes, values, opinions, and concepts that influence how people of different cultures a person thinks, makes decisions, and behaves. When working with kids counselors should involve their families. How a family influence career decision making of its members is related to culturally specific factors. Exploring the relationship between cultural diversity and family influence helps counselors to understand the uniqueness of all clients. It is important that counselors are culturally competent and sensitive to those of diverse cultures. They need to be aware of stereotypes beliefs and be open-minded when counselong.
