Principles for Implementing Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Setting.

1. Understand how duty of care contributes to safe practice.
1.1Explain what it means to have duty of care in own work role.
Duty of Care means that support take on legal responsibilities to safeguard the welfare and well being of the Customers we support. Every individual we support should be supported and enabled to live in an environment which is free from prejudice and safe from abuse and harm. My responsibilities under the duty of care are to do everything reasonable within my job role to make this happen. The level of duty of care depends on who you are caring for and means to keep the individual safe.
1.2. Explain how duty of care contributes to the safeguarding or protection of individuals.
A duty of care should guarantee the safeguarding of children in my care.

Risk Assessments – Carrying out and reviewing risk assessments. To lowers hazards around the individuals and concerns and danger to the support worker or individual

Policies and Procedures – having clear rules and boundaries ensures that support worker and individuals know.

Conforming to Legislation – by adhering to laws such as health and safety and safeguarding, I am working within the law which is there to protect the venerable adults and ourselves.

Understanding signs of neglect/abuse – I have a duty of care to all the venerable adults I work with that should I notice any signs/indicators of abuse or neglect that I report it the safeguarding team and my mangers and to take note of this.

Training and development – To ensures all my training is all uptodate and having refreshers on safeguarding procedures and keeping copies within on me at all times to go thought.
