    What is social media and how can the connection with cyber bullying be a deadly combination. A brief description I found on the internet at About.com states “the best way to define social media is to break it down. Media is instrument on communication, like newspaper or radio, so social media would be social instrument of communication. According to article from Do Something (dosomething.org/print/tipsandtools/11-facts-about-cyber-bullying) “Cyber bullying is defined as a young person tormenting, threatening, harassing or embarrassing another young person using the Internet or other technologies, like cell phones. Cyber bullying is used with social media by online excess though face book, twitter, email and texting. There is a difference when cyber bullying gets out of control which then leads to cyber-stalking and harassment. According to “Stop Cyber Bullying.org the only difference between cyber bullying and cyber-harassment is the age of both the victims and the perpetrator. It not always easy to know the difference except for serious cases of cyber stalking. At this time the law gets involved. There are several signs to look for. Some threats of communication may include a child being verbally assaulted, threatens one with bodily harm, death, or insults. Frequency of these threats, the natures and sources of the threats will help determine how serious the cyber bullying may be and rather law enforcement should be involved. Some nature of threats may include breaking into email or web accounts, postings and encouraging others to post nasty comments, sending jokes about the child being bullied. I feel when one is being bullied by another on line though Facebook this to me is like putting in on the front page of newspaper for all to see.
