Critical thinking involves a persons ability to reason in order to support their belief. To begin the critical thinking process one must acknowledge the problem at hand, find information on the problem; research, examine the problem closely, apply moral principles, decide the best ethical choice and be able to support the claim, then go back over the process on how one came to their conclusion and lastly reflect on their decision. I have learned that the critical thinking skills process is a buiding block, each step builds onto the other to come to a ethical solution at the end. There is no shortcut to the steps and if I do so then I will not get a logical conclusion to my problem. I beleive out of all the steps the one I find myself using…

Critical thinking is very important to our relationships with each other and with ourselves. It requires someone to make a little more effort to figure out the whole story. Sometimes people are very good at this such as the man from The Allegory of the Cave and Chimamanda Adichi, while others such as the woman from The Lunch Date, cannot form new perspectives and base outlooks on assumptions and stereotypes. Being a critical thinker requires a person to gain and use knowledge to develop a perspective on what they know.…

With this thinking hat, we focus on the data available to us. We observe and look at the information we have, and from there, we can learn from it. This is also where we look for gaps in our knowledge, and either try to fill them or take account of them. By using this hat, we can analyze past trends, and try to extrapolate from historical data. It is about making use of what we know. We’ll provide examples from the story itself and also do reflections based on our way of seeing things.…

In the United States, there is social unrest regarding the government’s denial of the right to marry for homosexuals. Plenty of conservatives are completely against gay marriage; and many of liberals are fighting for equal treatment. The neo-Christian politicians are using religious arguments to establish that homosexuality is an abomination. Clearly we as a nation are undecided on this issue. 36 states have passed legislation banning gay marriages, yet the state of Vermont passed a law that allows homosexual couples the right to participate in civil unions. Some other states are also debating whether or not to allow these couples to marry. Unfortunately, the dispute has left the United States homosexual community in an awkward position. Gays who gain the same benefits from marriage would be a more productive part of society for two reasons: the benefits from marriage and the pursuit of happiness obtained from the right of gay marriage. Many gays disagree with the argument that marriage is a tradition. They believe we should not discriminate who may be married. It is clear where gays stand. They do not want to settle for less than marriage status.…
