Nurses were known as task-workers, where they carry out doctor’s orders and followed a fixed set of rules. Today, nurses are skilled and capable professionals where their expertise’s towards patients care are initiatives. As a nurse I would not deny that it had been a long road and it is clear that by developing critical thinking skills nurses had helped to transformed healthcare industry. In order to be a professional nurse, nurses are required to learn to think like a nurse. They way a nurse thinks make a great a different between nurses and other healthcare providers. It is how nurses view the patient’s and the type of issue nurses deal with in practice when nurses engage in patient’s care. A nurse requires knowledge from what they had learned in the content of nursing, the ideas, concepts and theories of nursing. Nurses would be able to developed intellectual capacities and skills that would able them to become disciplined, self-directed and of most important critical thinkers (Adejumo. et. al. 2011).
