The choices you make on a daily basis which could affect your way of living is critical thinking. When making a decision that could have a positive or negative affect on you is critical thinking. To me critical thinking is being used every day by us and may not even notice it or pay attention to it. When you at work that is probably where it is used most when you are dealing with different personalities and races so you have to think about how you act and talk. The three most significant things that I learned in this course is one how often we use critical thinking on a daily basis. The second thing this class taught me is the different stages of thinking which I figured out I was practicing thinker which I learned that was I went over the problems instead of jumping right into the problem. The final thing I learned was about fallacies which is something is not as it seems for example, if a commercial says they have tires for $40 and when you get there they say they are sold out already that is just a scheme to get you into the store. My critical thinking has changed tremendously since I have started this class. When I am work I am more conscience of my actions and words. This class also help me with raising my children by thinking before I react. Usually I just overreact before thinking about how my actions could have a negative affect on them. The reason I placed myself in the stage of practicing thinking was I want to be precise in making sure not to make rational decisions. The stage that I have advanced to now is advanced thinker by putting my thoughts together by brainstorming ideas to help me accomplish my goal. With this new stage of thinking the change occurred after the week 1 and week 2 readings. The way I planned on moving from my current stage to the stage of master thinker is a lot of hard work and dedication. This stage would require

    * Read? Thinking critically when reading has helped me keep an open mind about what I am reading. I know that when I sit down to read something now that I can’t have a closed mind, I have to look at it from every angle that I can. I have learned that I can ask question and try to find the answer in the answer when I am reading. I feel like I can pick up on some of the feeling that the writer had when they were writing the article, or the book that I am reading. For example with the discussion question for week 8, dealing with Terri Schiavo I got to think outside the box, it was a hard…

This course has given me a more humanistic view of fellow human beings. This is not to say that I did not before have compassion for other human’s beings; rather to say that my understanding of people and what they may be experiencing within their lives has changed some. We judge people everyday based on things such as appearance, speech and the like. If we look at things with a bit more empathy we can truly say that we can or have walked a mile in someone else's shoes. Many times sympathy takes control when really empathy should take hold. Personally, I implement new learning's into my everyday life. I learned to not be so quick to make a hasty decision and that actually hearing someone is different from just listening to them. Carl Rogers said this and I believe it has deep bearings within this course; "An assumption unusual in psychology today is that the subjective human being has an important value which is…

<I’ve learned so much during this course and have truly grown as a person. I have never really been too open minded. I kind of stick to what I believe and no one can tell me otherwise. My grandma is really the only other person I really believe could tell me something and I would consider what she was saying as being correct. She influenced so much in my life. A lot of my decisions and choices I thought of her first or I would call and ask for her input. Without any extra questions or searching for other possible answers I would believe her almost instantly and go with what she said. During these few weeks I have learned to investigate all possibilities before making a decision so I can make the best one. My pride and my stubbornness also kept me from using critical thinking. Instead of taking the time to really analyze a problem and pick the best way to fix it I just did what I felt was the thing to do. During my time in this course I was taught the necessary steps to take in order to properly solve issues. I plan on utilizing everything I have learned for not only the rest of my academic time with the university of Phoenix , but for the rest of my life in and out of school or work.…

Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. I have learned even when a person thinks critically their ideas can still be rejected, I have learned that getting and keeping the attention of the audience is important, and I have learned to use other people’s critiquing of my ideas as an advantage instead of seeing it as something negative.…
