The Chairman,
Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC),
Warri,
Delta State.

PROPOSAL FOR TRAINING OF GRADUATES IN DELTA STATE OIL PRODUCING AREA IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NIIT ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (I.T)

I wish to refer to the foregoing and to humbly seek the attention of the Executive Chairman, Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), on the imperative for training graduates and graduating unemployed Deltans who are indigenes of oil producing communities.

It is common knowledge that majority of our graduating youths are not computer literate and have become increasingly disadvantaged in a competitive world. In order to adequately equip our Youth with appropriate skills and competence for competitiveness, it is necessary therefore, to build up appropriate capacity in them through Information Technology (I.T) training programmes. This will help broaden their horizon and guarantee their self reliance to take up careers in Small Scale Enterprises (SSE) and Medium Scale Enterprises for sustainable development of our youths and the state in general.

It will interest you to note that the programme is in collaboration with NIIT, a reputable world class I.T. institute and will involve the award of National Diploma to participating youths that meets the criteria for recruitment. To this effect, Supreme Consult has concluded arrangement with the management of NIIT towards setting up training centers in each of the Oil Producing Local Government for the commencement of the programme. This if approved will guarantee the following benefits:

(i) Equipping the youths with the necessary skills for keeping families intact and enhancing local economy by being self relevant and enterprising;
(ii) Reducing over dependence in Government and Governmental organs by building parallel outfits for commerce and industry;
(iii) Bringing Government closer to the populace by
