Creative Writing: The Homeless Woman
The only sounds he heard were the hypnotic ticking of the clock, the occasional chiming of the bell the hung above the door, and the falling rain. Due to the late hour, it was not difficult for him to find a table. There were only a few patrons, besides himself. One he recognized as the homeless woman, who often made one of the booths in the back corner, her bed for such a night. While listening to the rain drops gently pattering against the coffee shop window, his thoughts drifted back to her. He was remembering the way he could not take his eyes off of her. Just a couple of hours ago, he had been outside of the house watching. He had watched as the caregiver assisted her in getting dressed for bed. How she struggled to lift her feeble …show more content…
She was beautiful in such a unique way. There was something about the way her hands were always curled up in her lap, the way she fought to sit up straight in her chair, always needing help with the simplest of tasks. The way she always looked apologetic whenever she had to ask for help, and the way her face furrowed with frustration when she could not accomplish something on her own after several attempts . Watching her struggle made his heart race with excitement. He began to wonder , is she really as weak as she seems to be? And is she in pain? Of course she is. .. on both counts . Pain was pleasure...pleasure was pain. Does her weakness make her unhappy? If so, then why? He just could not understand why she would be discontented. Afterall, she was like a queen. A queen surrounded by the little people willing to do her bidding. Oh, to have such power! He realized that she had power over him. He decided it was time for him to let her know how much she meant to him. He needed her to understand that her pain brought him the greatest of pleasure. Her weakness was like a drug to him. A drug that he wanted...no.. needed more of. What better way to show his affection than with a letter! He bent over and reached down in to his beat up messenger bag. I’m so glad that I always have a pad and pencil with me, he thought to himself. For the next few minutes, he composed a letter for his beautiful queen . My dearest

After an exhausting day at work, the blue sheets on Ethan’s bed, which took up most of the room in his tiny apartment, looked inviting. “Psychiatric appointment,” repeatedly echoed in his head, preventing him from the blissful sleep he yearned for. The moment I looked out the window of the car and my eyes turned to the row of homeless people weaving its way through the traffic begging for money, I jumped out of my seat. It was my first visit to India after leaving the country for the United States. The homeless people's’ hands were making weird gestures and thumping the windows of the honking cars. I could not digest what I was seeing! While reaching out to an old woman to give her some money, I thought about what non homeless people could do to help those without a home and basic needs. Then, I asked myself a question. Why not give them something that will be with them forever and help them out of their poverty and teach them valuable skills? After all, a mountain of…

In the world many people are homeless. Homelessness is when one person or a group of people have no steady place to live. This is known as chronic homelessness. Homelessness is a pressing issue throughout the entire world. It affects people of all ages, genders, and races. The official definition from Google of homeless is “(of a person) without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets.” People who are homeless usually do not choose their homelessness. In fact, many people are pushed into this status due to many different reasons, such as gentrification or just difficulty finding a job. Walking down the Market Street of San Francisco, a bustling city, one would find many homeless begging, walking, or chatting with other homeless. They each have their own story behind their homelessness, and their own hardships. Women, in particular, have different needs and sufferings; they are more prone…

Growing up in a middle-class family of four in the suburbs of Ohio, I consider myself to be blessed. Blessed with stable, loving parents, a roof over my head, and an education, I was practically handed all I needed to succeed in life. However, it was revealed to me that not everyone had been granted such privileges and opportunities to thrive. Although I was aware of the reality of homelessness in the community, it was not until my freshman year of high school at Archbishop Hoban that I was able to volunteer with those in need, gaining insight into exactly what that meant. My school provided interested students with the unique experience of interacting with the local homeless and less fortunate through Project HOPE, standing for “Hoban’s Outreach…

However, when the shine and excitement of the presents and the parties began to wear off, the young Princess found out that her handsome young husband wasn’t as wonderful as she had expected. He behaved like a tyrant towards his people, he boasted about his wife as though she was a hunting trophy, and he was selfish and mean. When she came to see that everything about her husband was a false appearance, she didn’t hesitate to tell him this to his face, but he answered her back in a similar vein, reminding her that he had only chosen her for her beauty, and that she could have chosen many others rather than himself, if she hadn’t let herself be carried away by ambition and her desire to live in a palace.…

Quietly, I walked over to Mia's study table, grabbed a piece of paper and took out my pen from my pocket. I turned on the study lamp which lit up her whole room but she didn't even stir in her sleep. A small smile appeared across my face as I thought about how Mia always slept like a log and wondered if she would ever grow out of this habit. I didn't want her to. I loved Mia the way she was, she was so precious and unique that I could almost imagine a great big sign around her body that said: ‘Handle with Care'. A tear almost escaped from my eyelids but I quickly turned my concentration to the note that I was about to leave for Mia.…
