Creative Writing: The First Murder
Neil and Sophie were sitting, watching BBC news. Neil wished he could get closer to Sophie. While Neil was looking at Sophie, the story changed: “Now, continuing the murder discussion.” Neil looked away from Sophie to listen to the news.
“The first murder was in Phoenix, where a man named Yoshi Yakuzba was killed by multiple stab wounds to his gut and chest. The next murder was in LA, where a woman named Katie Kuzbano was brutally murdered. All of her limbs, neck, and multiple ribs were broken. Though it seems that was the cause of death, it wasn't. The cause of death was suffocation with an unknown object. The third murder took place right outside of our own New York City, in Albany. The victim's name was Carlo Johnson. She looked at him, very worried.
“I'll be fine. I promise.” He started walking out the door.
“Wait.” She followed him out the door. “I'm coming with you.”
“No,” Neil said, slightly worried.
“Why not? You're going to risk your life, so why can't I?”
Neil looked at Sophie. “Fine. Be careful.”
“I will. Why don't we start looking in alleys and abandoned buildings?” Sophie suggested.
“Sure,” Neil replied.
They went to the edge of town and looked in all the alleys and through windows of abandoned buildings. Nothing. Then they went down an alley surrounded by closed buildings. They heard a sound, like clicking. They looked in through the basement windows and saw a typewriter. Then they saw the cat behind it, typing! Then the clicking continued, and a golden glow appeared in the basement. And suddenly, a monster came out of the glow. He had purple eyes, yellow teeth, and green hair. “Go kill the scientist,” the black cat said. The monster walked off, leaving a golden glow in his wake.
