Creative Story: 'Run Lars ! Run'
‘Run Lars! Run!’
Lars played those words over and over in his head as he slept. They are the last words his dad said to him before he was killed. He had been a Christian pastor, and because Caesar Augustus did not follow Christianity, it was wrong. And as a result Lars’s dad was murdered. And Lars has no idea where he is now. All he could see were loads of men sleeping in a large prison like room.
“Where am I?” Lars whispered to himself.
“We’re in a training camp.”
The voice was so quiet that Lars thought he had imagined it, but then he realized that there was a boy a couple feet away staring at him.
“What did you say?” Lars asked, hoping it had been him.
“I said we’re in a training camp,” replied the boy.

Eat, train, eat, train, eat, sleep. And then everything changed, again. Cato grabbed Vel and Lars by their arms as they were going to eat and took them away from the rest of the men.
“You two have been training very hard and are amazing soldiers,” Cato complimented them.“I have decided that you are ready for the Coliseum. You will battle together as a duo.”
Lars’s head was spinning like the wheel of a chariot. He was greatly honored that he was chosen to fight in the upcoming games although he was younger than most of the men at the camp. Lars was also filled with fear that he might die a painful death, or that he might lose his only friend, Vel. But there was nothing he could do to stop it.
The next couple hours passed in a blur. Vel and Lars shared a chariot that took them into Rome. They are surrounded by several guards, of course, to stop the pair from escaping. After several hours they arrived in Rome. They were then taken to the Coliseum, and are placed in barracks under the arena. What his father had said in the dream gave him courage. He would win, for his dad. Adrenaline pumping through him, Lars followed Cato to the gate where he and Vel would pick the armor and weapons. Vel chose two swords, no longer than two feet each. Lars decided to stick with a standard sword. He found a beautiful double bladed one, reaching up to four and a half feet. They both were equipped with armor and Lars had a shield. Before the pair left, Cato gave them some advice.“The pair you are fighting today have won many battles. They fight like dogs, no morals at all.Watch out for the big one. His name is Titus Leddicus, and he is vicious. Never turn your back to them and stick together.” And with that, he left to spectate.
Lars and Vel walked up to the gate and waited. Lars’s heart was pounding so hard he was sure that Vel could hear it. Lars tried to calm himself. He loathed the events more than anything else. He felt hate towards the rulers of Rome who allowed the horrible games to happen. It was so unjust and wrong that it made Lars sick. If he won, he would find a way to end the dystopian ways of Rome. He would find justice for his father and all those who died in these events.
