Creation vs Evolution
Almost everyone wonders if the universe was created and how it was created. People also ask, “How did human originate?” This is an argument that has been fought for many years. Although there are several ideas, society mainly argues over two of them. The first idea is that man was created by God during his creation of the universe. This is the idea of creationism. It is supported by many religious people. Creationism is supported by religion. The second way that humans could have originated is through a process called evolution. Evolution is a theory proposed by scientists to explain the origin of all species. Because both explanations are theories, neither can be proven right or wrong. To make a decision on which theory is correct, people must choose either religion or science. The first theory about the origin of man is called creationism. Creationism is taking the literal meaning of the Bible. This theory is supported throughout the world by many religions. Creationism is the theory that God created the universe and its inhabitants in six days. Because creation occurred long ago, the length of a day is undefined. In the language of Hebrew, a day could have been twelve hours, twenty-four hours, or an epoch. If the length was an epoch, creation could stretch back over billions of years (Stencil 759). The information to support creationism comes from the Bible. The Bible is not considered a science book, but many consider it to be scientifically correct. Currently, there is no scientific evidence that proves the Bible to be incorrect. Genesis, the first book of the Bible, contains the information about creation. Genesis 1 describes the physical events of creation. Genesis 2 describes the creation of human and other details. The creation process can be broken down into steps. First, God created the physical universe; this included space, tie, matter, energy, galaxies, starts planets, etc. The earth’s atmosphere transformed from opaque to

The book of genesis creates an elaborate narrative about how the universe was created, while science approaches the creation of the universe in an evidence-based manner. The narrative set forth in the book of genesis does not correspond with what science presents, hence catalyzing the feud between creationism versus evolution. However, it is not accurate to claim one or the other as factual. The book of genesis, simply put, is the word of God. In contrast, our scientific knowledge is based on theories. The dilemma here is that science cannot disprove the word of God and our theories, although falsifiable, have persevered. Thus, we can either chose to believe that the universe was created by a higher power or by an explosion in the cosmos billions…

Man originates from Adam and Eve and animals were created by God during the creation week. My neighbor on the other hand believes that we did in fact evolve from apes. Because my neighbor does not believe in God I think it is important to first share the evidences for God such as order, harmony, and complexity. The presence of a conscience also indicates a creator God. Humans were created in the image of God not animal. The evolution model predicts a common ancestor of man and apes. Genesis 3:20 indicates that Eve is the mother of all the living. Humans and chimps have differing chromosome counts, we can also consider the difference in jaws between human and ape. The skull of the ape differs from man there is the quadruped and the biped skull. There are also major skeletal differences indicated by their walking styles. There was a scientific claim about our oldest ancestor reported to have dated 6-7 million years, a few years later scientists dispute the…

Throughout the years, a main topic of discussion is how people were created and came about to live here on this earth. Many people have their own views and opinions on how creation occurred, but two texts in particular that discuss this phenomenon are Theogony, written by Hesiod, and the book of Genesis of the Bible. The Bible is, and has been for years, the most read and religiously followed book of all time, and one book of the Bible that specifically discusses how creation occurred is Genesis, which in fact means creation. Genesis talks about in depth the process in which the earth and life were created and the progression of how the world was populated, while Theogony, written by Hesiod, is a book that discusses the genealogy and the creation of Gods and Goddesses in the areas of ancient Greece. Though both of these books may discuss the same general topics of creations and the nature of the divine, there are still vast differences that exist.…

Some religious believers respond to this statement by saying that the bible is that best answer to explain the existence of the universe; the people that say this are creationists. Creationists have a literal interpretation of the bible. They reject geological findings and claim that the earth is 6000 years old, based on the ages of the people in the bible.…

The study of evolution is the theory of history on this earth. Evolution teaches that humans have evolved over time from animals that live on earth. The Merriam-Webster’s dictionary gives the definition that it is "a theory that the various types of animals and plants have their origin in other preexisting types and that the distinguishable differences are due to modifications in successive generations..." Now this relates to creation vs. evolution because some people feel this is one hundred percent the truth and right. Some people believe that God does not exist and that this is more scientific and factual proof that this is how humans came to be on this earth. To support their argument in 1963 there was a case held by the Supreme Court called Murray vs. Cutlet. This case which ruled in the favor of the evolutionist stating that reading the Bible in class, praying and the teaching of creation where un constructional and they were taken out of schools. So the end result was no more teaching of creation.…

Since the 1930s, the Theory of Evolution has been the prominent science taught in public schools. Since then, Creationists have been fighting tooth-and-nail to have their opposing theory, Intelligent Design, taught alongside Evolution. Their main argument is that there should be an equal representation of people’s views. Since Creationists’ Intelligent Design theory is a “credible” theory of science held by 40% Americans according to a poll done by Gallup, they believe it should be taught alongside, or instead of, the Theory of Evolution in science classes. On the other hand, leading scientific minds and myself agree that it should not. Creationism is not based entirely on scientific facts and teaching it results in an exceeding number of potential troubling problems that are not worth dealing with, if the curriculum were changed.…

Since the dawn of man, humans have striven to explain the many mysteries of the universe, and to explain how it began. Throughout this journey, numerous standpoints on existence have evolved and merged into a complex, abstract manifestation called religion. However, as the human race has grown and advanced itself, many ideas expressed by religion seem less and less plausible. Advances in science and technology have yielded a new breed of human thought that has disturbed and shaken the foundations of religious ideology. Our new, scientifically grounded understanding of the universe has unfolded a plethora of answers to age-old questions, which oppose the explanations offered by religion. As strong scientific evidence has surfaced which is contrary to the prevailing religious view, open-minded believers have adapted their beliefs accordingly, but many fundamentalists refuse to accept scientific evidence. This is the root of the dilemma between science and religion. Many scientists and theists have offered their views concerning the ongoing battle between the scientific ‘big bang’ theory and the religious creation stories.…

Written in the first chapter of the Book of Genesis 1:1-31 through to Genesis 2:1-3, is the most popular Hebrew and Christian version of the Creation story. To begin with, in the first day God creates heaven, Earth, day and night. Then on the second day the skies and oceans are created followed by the creation of dry land, vegetation and fruit trees on the third day. Continuing on the fourth day God creates the sun, moon, stars and then on the fifth day all creatures that swim along with all creatures that fly are created. Finally, on the sixth day God creates all creatures and animals that will live on the earth followed by the creation of man and woman who would rule over all other life on Earth. Afterwards, with all of his work completed…

“The origin of the universe, the Earth and man is a topic that is still debated today, over a hundred years after Darwin published his work, On The Origin of Species, in which he presented his theory of evolution.” (Trudeau, 1). This is seen in many scientific debates that have taken place. One instance where a debate relating to this topic occurred was between Dr. Jay Wile and Dr. Robert Martin. They were on opposing sides; Dr. Wile was the creationist whereas Dr. Martin was the evolutionist. Dr. Jay Wile and Dr. Robert Martin each stated their views boldly and respectfully throughout the debate.…
