They track down suspects, search for missing people, illegal drugs, explosives, and stop a crime in progress. I plan to be in the force after I graduate collage, but before I become a K-9 officer I must be a patrol officer for 3 to 4 years and volunteer on my days off, and have a good home with a fence around my yard and a good dog owner. After I leave the Academy I will be a patrol officer in Mccomb, MS before going to Magnolia, MS to be in the K-9 Division. The main reason I chose this career is that the crime rate and drug use in Mississippi is increasing, not just that but more guns are on the street and more…

Do you think that service dog trainers should be able to keep their dogs? Well, I do. I think this because a dog shouldn’t be used just for work they should get love and affection just like any other animal. But, some people may think different for many reasons. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but mine is that if the trainers want the dogs, they should be able to keep them.…

Should people be allowed to keep pit bull dogs? Pit bull dogs seem to come up in many news topics, and it always seems to be bad news. Nine times out of ten when a dog is in the news it seems to be bad mouthing pit bulls, the news never shows the good side to the breed, which there are a lot of good things about the dogs. As a owner and someone who know many people who own the breed, I strongly disagree. Every breed has the potential to be aggressive and will at some point have at least one instance that another breed will do something bad. I was skeptical about the breed when I was first given the puppy, but now I would never trade her for the world.…

Some people think that Pit Bulls are inherently vicious but that is not true, Pit Bulls are only vicious if someone makes them that way. There are not bad dogs, only bad people. A pit bull is not inherently vicious, if they are aggressive and attack, either the person most likely deserved it or they were trained to do so. Furthermore, Pit bulls are no more vicious than Golden Retrievers, Beagles, and other well known dogs. There was a recent study by the American Temperament Testing Society that tested 122 dog breeds and Pit Bulls had a passing score of 86.8%. Pit Bulls ranked fourth for the highest passing breed in this study. You are very unlikely to be fatally attacked by a Pit Bull. In fact, you are 60 times more likely to die from falling…

An Anonymous author stated, “Pit bulls are beauty without vanity, strength without insolence, courage without ferocity, and all the virtues of man without the vices.” (Anonymous) As a Pit bull proprietor, I feel that Pit bulls are consistently confounded animals. In fact, any animal, pit bull or even a Chihuahua can be merciless or delicate. Additionally, adore and minding wins out with animals basically as it guarantees with individuals. Furthermore, affection is the item that makes a good or repulsive puppy and not their kind of breed or innate beautifying agents.…

Potty pad training can be a rewarding experience for both the puppy and owner. I first find the spot on the carpet that has been properly cleaned that the dog has taken a liking to. I place the potty pad there, and show the puppy its location. The puppy needs to be placed on the potty pad after eating, playing, drinking, and waking up. Every few hours or so, I will put the puppy on the pad and say “go potty”. Eventually the puppy will understand after praise or a treat is given what “go potty” means. As much as puppies eat, play, drink, and sleep if the owner places them on the potty pad enough times, sooner or later the puppy will catch onto what it is expected to do.…

Tell me, what is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions a Pit Bull? I can't speak for everyone, but most of you didn't think of some cute, cuddly, playful puppy. Most of you envisioned a savage, snarling, devil dog, chained to post in an abandoned yard totally focused on tearing you to shreds. Such stereotypes are created and amplified by scandalous media reports which contribute greatly to societies' growing fear of these dogs. Fear implores a responsibility for the government to protect its people. So, Pit Bulls are being killed as a result of ignorance and fear, while dog bite related injuries and fatalities continue to rise because the true cause, irresponsible owners, is overlooked.…

I know I have. Yes training a dog is a lot of work and takes a long time but it does help make them a better dog. Dogs are very responsive to cues that humans give. Cats don’t even care what you give them as a cue, they won’t do it. Another thing is that they are easily motivated. Dogs can be easily motivated if you give them treats and compliment them when they do something good. Cats will never be motivated to do anything. Dogs have problem solving capabilities.
