Description Nowadays, getting mail is almost a breathtaking concept. With the new technology continuing to advance, everyone is a text or phone call away, and something that happens to many people everyday. Receiving mail, that isn't about paying bills or the latest deals on a gym membership is almost rare. Seeing my name on the very thin package completely caused me to rip the package open, though I already knew what was inside I am so eager to see. As I took the tickets from the light, ripped open envelope, they felt so delicate in my hands, if I had lost these prior to my concert, I wasn't going. The buildup of the date of the concert was almost torture, but when it finally came I felt as if the bricks building up to this day had come crashing down in the best way. I had woken up that day with so much to do and finally realized that there are not enough hours in a day, nor were there enough clothes in my closet. The heat was brutal, along with furiously running around preparing, I felt as if I could not escape it continuously using my hands as personal fans I got ready for this concert all day. My bathroom ended up looking as if I was painting a masterpiece with the red, tan and blue powdery makeup I owned. It was a perfect day to roll the windows down and listen to all the songs going to be played that night, sitting through traffic is not half as bad when you see the cowboy hats and American flags,“Country music is the poetry of the American spirit.”(Maraboli, S), you know the person in the car over is about to have the time of their lives, as was I. The traffic cones and blue flashing lights filled the streets to the stadium, as well as the poorly marked, dirt parking lots. You could hear the radios playing all the songs you were going to hear that night trying to figure out which one to listen to. The smell was almost as if your whole neighborhood was having a barbecue. Tailgating and seeing all the people who were so ready to get into the

I attended concert Welcome Christmas 2014 performed by the Vocal Essence and The Ensemble singers on Friday December 5th from 7.30 to 9: 30 pm at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Apple Valley. The concert was conducted by Phillip Brunelle, narrated by Katherrine Fennard and fiddled by Sara Pajounen. Recording devices and cameras were prohibited it could have been a nice opportunity to record and listen again. I arrived just on time and the singers all dressed in black suites for men and black dresses for women processed silently as they took their spots on the stage according to the parts they were practicing for while the audience cheered for them as they took their spots on stage. As the choristers arrived the hall the musical prelude was going on with different instruments such as the flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, horn, trumpet, fiddle, violin, viola, cello, bass and percussion but the musicians stopped playing and cheered them as well. Everyone cheered them and then sat down and the deal began.…

I attended The Works of Thomas Root on Tuesday, March 24th. It featured the Weber State University wind ensemble and symphonic band as well as the WSU Band Alumni. There were many pieces conducted and created by Thomas Root. Most pieces were still unpublished but they were wonderful nonetheless. He also had pieces that were dedicated to people that he had come to meet throughout his life, and a piece was dedicated to his own mother.…

The concert that I attended at Yale University on November eighteenth was called Symphonie Fantastique. During the concert, the band played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, William Tell Overture, and Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique. The music was excellent and played with much expertise. Each piece was performed well. I enjoyed listening to the extravagant music with very few mistakes.…

Sweat drizzles down my skin as it exits my pores trying to cool my heated body. The blood rushes through my veins pumping blood with the consistent pounding of my heart. Every breath, every second, every action, every thought; I am standing where everything counts. Artificial turf and grass crumpled beneath my torn black shoes and the thick silence only cut by the timed chants from afar. This is the last moment I will stand here for this reason. This is the last moment I will stand here with my family. This is the last moment of my marching band career. Many will say that this was a special group of kids, others will say that this year was a show that was made to make it. I, on the other hand, will say that this was because of seven years of dedication.…

The moment I walked in the arena I get this sweet fresh ice old air that string my nostrils which I can only smell it every time I come to this place. Also I can feel the air conditioner blasting as my skin gets goose bumps throughout the whole arena. As I continue to walk down the hall I smell fresh popcorn popping as it fills the hall with its beautiful aroma and the odor of cheesy nachos making me hungry every step I take. I could not resist the scent, so I bought my self a bucket of lager buttery popcorn and a greasy hotdog to fill my empty stomach. As we keep on walking we get the booze stand and order a around of Jameson Whiskey shots and one expensive cold beer condensation outer part of the cup filled with Dos Equis that was 12 dollars. The game is about to start so we rushed to our seats.…

Since America has changed drastically throughout the years, music has changed along with it. Music changed with the times and captured those moments inside them. Music lets us take a look at the past and gives us a chance to feel the emotions that were happening within those years. America was an independent natation that conformed to no one else and it showed. We as a nation had to grow and learn on our own and people expressed it in the art especially. Throughout the centuries we have evolved drastically and the music will always progress with us as it shows in the music we listen to today, even country itself.…

I chose the genre string quartet and attended a concert at First Presbyterian church on October 19th, 2014. Because of its location the sanctuary where the concert took place had many stained glass windows. It was marvelous and in my opinion well suited the feel of classical music. The audience was very responsive and attentive. They applauded when the musicians appeared, in between pieces, and at the very end. They were quick to join in the sing along portion of the concert. Overall the people attending were an older crowd but you could tell they truly appreciated the music. The concert’s duration was around an hour and a half and was quite a surprising performance. I am very new to concert experiences, such as this, so I had no idea what to expect. I was thoroughly impressed by the ability of Marianne Henry, Nicole Cherry, Deidra Lawrence, and Prudence McDaniel, to create such a unified and powerful sound. The energy level of the musicians was extraordinary. They moved with music and felt every note. The glances exchanged between they showed their true enjoyment in what they were doing. All four of them were very concentrated and all consumed in the moment and the music. They came very well prepared if any mistakes were made it was most certainly never noticed by anyone. The string quartet consisted of a cello, two violins, and a viola. The Marion Anderson String Quartet played two pieces. The first, was Follow the Drinking Gourd by Jonathan B. McNair and the second, was a String Quartet in e minor composed by Frederick Delius. Both pieces were broken down into of four acts. The first piece also included tenor singer and narrator Chris Hoffman. Chris was very animated and excelled in keeping the audience’s attention as well as their participation. Both pieces were also written in the early 1900’s which would put them in the 20th century…

On Friday night, November 22th, a great concert was held again in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre of Brock University. This concert was performed by four young, energetic, and talent musicians: Vera Alekseeva play a violin, Austin Hitchcock plays a French horn, and Karin Di Bella plays piano. When I entered the theatre, my eyes were immediately caught by a beautiful piano on the stage under the bright light. Some students were taking pictures of the instruments. Before the concert start, the musicians were briefly introduced themselves and descript about the pieces they going to play. The audiences were exciting and interesting for the concert. It was a perfect opportunity to experience such a wide variety of music.…

On March 4, 2012, the DuPage Community Concert Band performed American Titled Songs at the College of DuPage. They performed a total of seven songs. I really enjoyed this concert. It featured many instruments like the trumpet, tuba and trombone. It was different from the concert I attended for my first concert report because it did not feature any stringed instruments. Something I found very different and unusual was the lack of audience involvement in the performance. It was odd for me to have to hold back my applause until the end of the performances. This concert featured many upbeat and patriotic songs. I enjoyed it because of this reason.…
