Cost of Living Paper

The cost of living in five different countries and the affect on the way payroll would be done implemented each country for managers that were sent there to manage the company in each country. The five countries chosen are China, Mexico, Canada, Philippines, and France.
China cost of living according to www.englishfirst.com in China is * Gross Income (Salary) : 12,350 RMB,=$ 1,938.95 USD * Rent : 3500 RMB = $549.50 USD * Utilities (electricity, gas, water) : 250 RMB= $39.25 USD * Phone & Internet : 300 RMB = $47.10 USD * Food : 1500 RMB = $235.50 USD * Insurance : 295 RMB = $46.32 USD * Remaining Disposable Income : 6,505 RMB = $1021.29 USD
This would affect the way payroll would be done due to the fact the average person gross income is only .157 of what people in the United States makes. HRM would have to take into factor the cost of living is less and the gross income is a lot less than in the USA. You do not want to overpay for labor. Payroll would also have to be paid n RMB not USD.
Mexico cost of living according to [ (www.worldsalaries.org) ] is * Gross Income (Salary) : $37,752 Current Pesos = $6,143 USD * Rent : $2,974 Current Pesos = $484 USD * Utilities (electricity, gas, water): Included in housing cost. * Phone & Internet : Not Available * Food : $5,083 Current Pesos = $827 USD * Insurance : $533 Current Pesos = $ 87 USD * Remaining Disposable Income : $ 29,162 Current Pesos = $4,745 USD
Mexico has a very low cost of living. They have other expenses like clothing education and other things that are not included in these figures. The cost of living in Mexico will affect the way business is done with the USA is that there pay is not in USD it is in the Current Pesos. This would make it so you have to convert the cost of living into USD like done above. The pay rate annually in USD is lower than the average American. Your pay scale could be much lowers

One example comes from Lotus Mountain, China. A textile worker named Lu Huikun made ski jackets for an American company for approximately $0.31 per hour (Finley, 2000). An American company could never get away with paying that low a wage given the federal and state governments ' strict enforcement of minimum wage laws. Chinese laws are not so strictly enforced. While there are minimum wage laws in China, local governments often refrain from punishing offending companies in order to promote economic growth and investment from foreign firms (Deng, Quheng, Li, Shi, 2012) Labor unions are also less effective in China. Unions have minimal authority and come under some state…

In America, the public majority tends to believe that poor people deserve to be in poverty as they are lazy. In reality, the nation’s poor work full-time, sometimes over fifty hours a week, yet still do not earn enough to escape the depths of poverty. Minimum wage is what these individuals earn, as deemed appropriate from the low skill level of the jobs they work. Often the level of incomes received are not made to be living wages and are found to be product of unreasonable systems. Making a living wage in America is unlike the textbook definitions since there are various standards of living within each state that dictate the level. As a result including, an ever-growing population of consumer workers, deskilled jobs, and irrationality caused from McDonaldization, countless individuals, specifically: the uneducated, Blacks, Latinos, and young adults, fall into a class of “working poor”.…

There is a major difference between what’s referred to as ‘minimum wage’ and living wage’ The living wage is the amount of pay considered sufficient for you and your family to cover basic costs of living in a specific location. Economists and policymakers use this information to determine the relative financial health of workers when comparing their pay with their living costs. There is no federal living wage law. The minimum wage, established by the federal government, specifically through the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), state, and local government law, sets the lowest wage an employer may legally pay their workers. The federal minimum wage, which hasn’t changed since it was set on July 24, 2009, is $7.25 per hour. That translates to…

It might seam that a living wage is a good idea compared to a minimum wage; although, the repercussions may cause people to think differently. Living wage could cause unemployment to rise, create higher prices causing profits to decrease. If people’s income increases, people will get fired, prices will rise, and profits will decrease. Granted, a living wage could improve people’s spending immensely and decrease job turnover; however, it honestly is an erroneous decision to choose living over minimum wage.…

Without financial knowledge, a budget and/or a financial plan in place you can have an income of 100,000 thousand dollars a year and still be living paycheck to paycheck and eventually end up in financial ruin. If a budget is not in place it is very likely to spend more money than you are making. By accounting for all income you receive and spend you are able see you’re spending habits. To assess whether you’re spending habits are good or bad, need to be improved or adjusted. For instance my family loves to eat out. If I noticed that my family spends $400 dollars a month on fast food/eating out then I need to decide what’s essential to my household and what’s not; if spending that amount on fast food is not essential then I need to make a conscience effort to eat at home more and decide on an acceptable amount and give my family a fast food budget, a certain amount for fast food monthly. I can also add that additional money not spent on eating out to our savings account or add it to a 401k, IRA, or even pay extra on our credit cards. By making good personal finance choices money can be saved monthly to add to retirement income. Personal finance choices affect your life now but most importantly they will affect how comfortable you are able to retire.…

Countries in Asia are placing efforts on government initiated and controlled labor regulations and free-market-based HRM policies and practices. In countries such as South Korea, Hong Kong, China, and India, legislation and commercial operations have been under various pressure exerted from globally strong regions such as Europe and North America. This is forcing, in part with economic and financial recession and other factors, organizations in countries residing in the Asian region to adjust to the new reality, leading those very organizations to rethink and restructure many of their HRM…
