Based on these three documents I am confident in knowing what happened during Cortez and Moctezuma first meeting. the reason I and confident for knowing what happened during Cortez and Moctezuma first meeting is that all the letters was from the emperor's point of view of how he viewed Cortez. he was giving him his Palace and treating him as a king. He was sending Cortes letters for what he's going to do for him. He also told him the story of why things are going this that you came.     The Spaniards allied with the Tlaxcalan indians and marched into Tenochtitlan. Montezuma welcomed in Quetzalcoatl’s men with open arms, but Hernan Cortes seized power of the empire by using Montezuma as a figurehead against his will, while Cortes made all the real decisions.
