Corruption the Philippines
A Completely Non-corrupt Philippines: Is it even possible?
To my dear audience, fellow students, classmates, teachers, and other concerned citizens, a pleasant day to each and every one! Today, I would like to convince all the Filipinos that corruption can still be eradicated from our beloved country. The Republic of the Philippines suffers a widespread corruption including the graft, bribery, embezzlement, backdoor deals, nepotism and patronage.

However, today, while it remains an important part of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations and world community at large, it’s safe to say that those glory days are long over. Political instability, economic struggle, crime and corruption often come to mind when most of the outsiders think of the Philippines today.
How corrupt our country really is? According to World Bank study in 2011, the Philippines came in at 129 with a 2.6 Corruption Perceptions Index in Transparency International’s list that ranks 178 countries and territories based on how corrupt their public sector is perceived to be. Very disastrous for the reason that CPI scores on a scale of 0-10, the lesser the number the more corrupt it perceives.
Former President of the Philippines Joseph Ejercito Estrada was found guilty by the Sandiganbayan for plunder. When political leaders lie, cheat and steal, when public offices become a common public curse especially in graft and corruption, when public funds go to private pockets, then we must begin to realize... Corruption is the gravest threat to Philippine democracy and society today. We must eradicaete corruption from our country!
THIS IS MY COUNTRY PHILIPPINES... A Changing Nation – Changing for worse... bribery, corruption and finally, pardon for plundering leaders. The trouble in our country is uncontrollable corruption and

The Philippines calls itself a democracy, but there are some fundamental flaws in the Philippine political system, which have allowed all of the country’s problems (to a degree) to occur. First of which is the failure of the political actors to be a transparent government in the society. Politicians took advantage of the illiterate people to manipulate every action in the government. Filipinos e required to pay for their taxes; however, they do not have the idea on where do these taxes go. In other words, the citizens feed only the political actors but not themselves.…

To even the most astute observer whose sympathies might lie with the current administration, it would seem from the results of the last national election that the government of the Philippines was populated with thieves, intellectual dwarfs, and other assorted clowns with high name recognition. However, an occasional jewel of competency and perception can be found in government even if the press and media is so unaware of the fact.…

A Window of Opportunity Since more than two decades past, the Philippines has never faced a better chance than today of finally breaking out of its perennial condition of poverty, inequity, and lagging human development. In economic terms, the country’s external payments and international credit position have not been healthier in decades for various reasons. Thanks to overseas remittances, surpluses on current account have been run consistently since 2003. After decades of trade reform, the industrial structure is now fairly undistorted by subsidies and heavy protection.…

Filipinos are known for having ningas cogon, a mentality wherein when a Filipino starts something, they won’t be able to finish it. This affects all Filipinos since even the people who hold powerful positions in government are not exempted from it too. Politicians usually step in to remind people of the power they possess to fix the matter, and to find justice. Unfortunately, it does not take long before everyone loses interest, and the next big scandal is simply a day away. Before you know it, the politicians have moved on to other projects, and what was once a great big scandal is left forgotten and unsolved.…

It is surprising to hear from the news nowadays that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) tops the list of the country’s most corrupt organizations. It seems like gone were the days when the Philippine National Police (PNP) hugs the limelight as the most rotten egg on the lot. With the current controversy hugging the country’s Armed Forces, the amount that the PNP’s Euro Generals took with them in their travels looked like some loose change as compared to those amassed by the AFP comptrollers and former chiefs of staff. Even the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs, whose names used to be synonymous to graft and corruption, seemed to have faded in the background to give way to the AFP’s moment.…
