Coral Gables Concert Report
Jazz Concert Review

On Saturday 28th I went to The Globe Café in Coral Gables, I got there with my brother exactly at 8pm and sat on a high table just in front of the band. We got there just before they started playing and stayed for the whole first session that was just over an hour. The Café was real nice, It wasn’t far from where I live and there was no traffic coming in, it is situated in a very nice part of Coral Gables just two blocks from Miracle Mile, that was perfect because parking was amazing, I parked in front of the place. The Café was real nice, it had a bar and about 11 eleven tables (later when I went to the bathroom I realized it had a whole other bar and lounge area on the back). The Globe was very pleasant, the bar area

But when they started it was just the right volume, you could still talk to the person in your table. The band was formed by four musicians, Rodolfo Zuniga on the drums, Dave Fernandez on the Saxophone, Dave Siegel on the Piano and Josh Allen on the bass, later another musician joined in with his …show more content…
They first played “True Crime” that is an original from the piano player Dave Siegel. Then the second tune was a Pat Metheny composition called “Amid-6”. Pat an American jazz guitarist and composer; his style incorporates elements of progressive and contemporary jazz, post-bop, Latin jazz and Jazz Fusion [1]. But one song I really enjoyed, and even my brother told me he liked this one, was the third song the band played called “I Love You” that is an old jazz tune by Cole Porter, he wrote it in 1944 for his stage musical “Mexican Hayride”. Bing Crosby popularized the song in the same year and Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford, Bill Evans and John Coltrane have also recorded

A good electric guitar player is part of the group as well. They also at one point had a woman with a nice singing voice perform with them. She sing several songs with them. Next, I found out why they had the Bad New Jazz & Blues Orchestra again at the festival. In the band, one member acted as their conductor. Several individuals play saxophone. A couple of individuals plays horns. Three trumbones are involve, a woman sings well in the band and unlike Space Train had key board player in it. The trumpet players were good and I am not what you call a fan of them. In fact, I like the singing of this woman better than the singer in Space Train. It was very well organized orchestra. People in the audience must have agree because a couple…

On a beautiful sunny day in January 2009 over two hundred fans of jazz gathered at the Parker Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, Maine. The center of attention during a spectacular two hours of jazz was not the illustrious Al Corey Big Band, nor the Pete Collins Jazz Band, nor even Al Doane and his Bridgeway Band!…

The quintet consisted of Adam Heller, Kendall Fowler, Chandler Boyd, Dan Sitler, and Tim Henderson. They started off with Blue Train by the great John Coltrane. It had a steady tempo and a smooth sound. The trumpet played by Adam Heller stood out during this tune. It was a great piece that the audience enjoyed thoroughly. The next tune played by this quintet is So Dance Samba by A. C. Jobim. The piano played by Chandler Boyd starts the tune out beautifully. The drums played by Tim Henderson keep the fast beat and tempo. The sax played by Kendell Fowler played wonderfully along with the trumpet played by Adam Heller. Both of these talented musicians stood out. The trumpet took the lead for most of this piece, but the bass played by Dan Sitler and the piano still stood out at portions. This piece ended on a loud note. Their next tune is Grass Fed that was impressively created by their director Scott Routenberg in one day. This tune had a fast tempo and a happy feel. The trumpet played by Adam Heller and the sax played by Kendell Fowler stood out during most of this piece. It was a very impressive and appealing piece. I enjoyed each piece of this quintet’s…

This skilled playing brought the whole crowd to their feet during the performance, despite the delicious food sitting right underneath their noses. This song, which was new to many die-hard fans, ended with a powerful drum solo by Brown. This solo was enhanced by the striking notes of Randy McDonald’s beautiful, teal bass. As the night progressed, Castro filled the audience’s ears with a couple of raw sounding covers. B.B. King’s “Bad Luck” and Bob Dylan’s “Gotta Serve Somebody” were instant crowd pleasers, along with Castro’s classic hit “Right as Rain.” Castro and his Painkillers were definitely there to surprise and please their audience, just as they are known for.…

My desire to be a part of the Tri-M Music Honor Society is driven by a passion for performing music. Four years ago, with very little experience under my belt regarding music, I joined the Dracut High School Marching Band, not knowing the difference between the xylophone and the marimba. Little did I know that playing and performing music for myself and others would lead to who I am as a person now.…

On the 9th of November I went to the salsa jazz band concert. This all took place at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus in the Alfred L. McCarthy Hall Auditorium. I arrived at the campus around 7 pm, half an hour before the concert started and parked in the garage. At the garage, I met up with my friend Elizabeth with whom I have for the jazz and pop class. From there we both walked to the auditorium with her brother and waited outside for a bit. As I walked in the first thing that they did was give us the program. The program lists all the songs that were played and included all of the players in the jazz band. The director of the band’s name is Rafael Valencia. I noticed that it was pretty full, which to me meant that it was going to be good performances. My friend and I sat…

Before taking Jazz class I barely knew anything about this type music. Six different bands performed fifteen pieces. Most of the pieces are written by popular Jazz composers, such as “Cantaloupe Island” by Herbie Hancock or “Donna Lee” by Charlie Parker. Also, there was one band that performed pieces written by its members, which really impressed me. For example, “Preparation” was composed by Alex Reiff, who plays bass in the band called Krista White 3 PM Combo. In this report I would like to pay attention on two pieces that I enjoyed the most.…

Dekutoski said the experience was packed with pleasurable surprises. “I didn’t know about the yacht until they sent out the itinerary with all the music and other information, but when I heard about it, I was so pumped. So after the concert, we got to see our parents and go out to dinner and get out of our concert attire,so after that, we boarded some buses that took us to a pier, and we got boarded on the yacht. There was a dance floor, four different decks, food and drinks, blaring music and it wasn’t too cold to go outside for a while. It was so…
