    Mitch Albom was born in New Jersey in 1958, though he spent the greater part of his youth in Philadelphia. In 1979, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where met and studied under his beloved professor, Morrie Schwartz, the title character of Tuesdays With Morrie. In 1982, Albom was awarded a Masters degree from Columbia University in New York. After failed stints as an amateur boxer and nightclub musician, Albom began his career as a sports journalist, writing articles for newspapers such as the The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Detroit Free Press where he was employed from 1985 until his reunion with Morrie in 1995. Albom also has his own nationally syndicated radio show,Monday Sports Albom. In 1995, Albom began gathering notes for his book,Tuesdays With Morrie, which documents his and Morrie's discussions on the meaning of life which they hold each Tuesday of every week in Morrie's home. Albom claims to have written the book to offset Morrie's severe medical expenses, and has said in interviews that the profits from the two-year bestseller are divided between himself and the Schwartz family.…

    “I’ve got so many people who have been involved with me in close, intimate ways. And love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone,”. Mitch Albom, the novelist of the novel Tuesdays with Morrie, uses flashbacks to bring out deeper connotation to the story. The book is an account of the relationship between Mitch and his dying professor. At the heart of the narrative is the fourteen Tuesdays that marked the reunion of Mitch and his professor after a period of sixteen years. Essentially, the Tuesdays represent the days that Mitch used to visit his ailing professor after being diagnosed by the terminal ASL. Hence, the days were full of lessons about life. The book epitomizes the final days of Morrie Schwartz and how the days transformed the life of Mitch through the lessons. Hence, Mitch learnt a lot from the professor. In order to epitomize the inherent lessons that he leant from Morrie. Mitch invokes the past through the use of flashbacks. “…we’ve had thirty-five years of friendship. You don’t need speech or hearing to feel that,” . The flashbacks used not only take the reader back to the background of the story but also exposes the true connotation of Mitch’s experience.…

    Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus can be interpreted as a chilling warning of the dangers of scientific overreaching and ambition. Mary Shelley was already aware of the works of scientists such as Erasmus Darwin and was being influenced by writers such as Byron when, at “the age of nineteen, she achieved the quietly astonishing feat of looking beyond them and creating a lasting symbol of the perils of scientific Prometheanism” (Joseph, 1998, p, xiii). The fact that Shelley parallels her story of Frankenstein with the myth of Prometheus is interesting and gives an immediate insight into the extent of criticism she bestows on Victor Frankenstein’s scientific ambition. In one version of the Prometheus myth (Prometheus Pyprphoros) he brought down fire from the sun to succour mankind, and was then punished by being chained up with an eagle feasting on his liver in a perpetual cycle. In another version (Prometheus Plasticator) he animated a man from clay in an act of usurping God. The undoing of Frankenstein can be taken as a metaphor for either version and is key to understanding that as Shelley orchestrates Victor’s downfall she is presenting his actions as a warning of what horrors blind scientific ambition can wreak upon mankind.…

    ­­­Tuesdays with Morrie is a charmed narrative of Morrie’s and Mitch’s life together, by Mitch sharing precious memories and life lessons by Morrie. In this story, Mitch discusses numerous topics that he conversed with Morrie. These topics incorporated: fear, marriage, society, forgiveness, death, aging, family and having a meaningful life. Mitch directed this paperback towards the general public. Mitch wanted to communicate to the general public that money and popularity isn't what life truthfully is about. Mitch desired for the addressees to perceive that family, love, and friends are the things that actually matter. Metaphorically, Mitch acts like a guide through whom he can deliver Morrie’s wisdom, to Mitch, and, indirectly, to a greater audience which he accomplishes subsequently his bereavement by means of the book itself. The author seems like a very easy person to communicate to. He seems as though he is just like the rest of the audience- inspired effortlessly, distant from perfect and overall a unique being. At the opening of the novel, Mitch becomes misplaced in the chaotic "media-world" and loses sight of what's really important to him. However, with the assistance of a father-figure, he gets his priorities back. Mitch comes across as very "people-oriented" since more than one of his books is constructed on the affect influential people have on his life. Mitch's narration is composed of very rudimentary dialect, as most of the book is collections of discussions amongst him and Morrie, word-for word relations he has documented after having tape recorded them prior to Morrie's death. It seems as though his way of conveying the book’s tone implies that he was really engaged in the conversations that was taking place between him and Morrie, this shows by his attitude towards Morrie, which would be very sweet and adoring.…
