Introduction Today Sri Lanka is an independent country. After the 30 year of war Sri Lanka is rising for the prosperity. Because of this war Sri Lanka couldn’t able to stand alone like a developed country. Engineers are mainly contributing to the development of Sri Lanka. * Benefits that gained after the war

Sri Lanka faced a three decades of terrible war. It was started on 23 July 1983. For over 27 years the civil war caused significant hardships for the population, environment and economy of the country. It was estimated that 80,000 to 100,000 people killed during this war. After a 26 military campaign, Sri Lankan military defeated the LTTE in May 2009. After that the country gained considerable achievements in every aspect. After the war country was rewarded with some benefits, they can be classified as below. * Increase investments
After the war the foreign investors’ confidence has been raised. Sri Lanka is now considered as a safe country to invest on. So investors have chosen SL as their next investment location. This makes the gradual increase of investments in Sri Lanka. * Reducing government expenditure on military
War had created massive expenditure on military development. But after the war now we can invest that money on the development of the country. * Increase of funds towards the development of the country
After the civil war main aim of the nation now aligned with the economic prosperity. So government has engaged in new mega projects all over the country. * Increase the economic growth
In 2009 the growth rate of the country was about 3.5 percent but in 2012 it increases up to 8.3 percent. In 2008 the GDP was 32.35 B$ and it was increased to 59.17 B$ in 2012. Slavery was a main cause of the conflict, and while the Thirteenth Amendment ended the practice at war's end, race relations continued to dominate American politics and society well into the future. The war also increased American economic power until it equaled, and then passed all of the other countries’ economies. After the war, Americans had a new sense of being a part of a single nation instead of a multinational of states with their own institutions and histories. Economically, the war was a advantage for the North and a disaster for the South. The North began the war with many advantages more men, more money, more industrial power, and a wide-ranging railroad system. By the end of the war, the North continued to dominate economically, while the withered South struggled to recover economically and psychologically from the destruction of the war. In addition to losing many of its young men, sons, husbands, fathers, and friends to the conflict, the southern planter upper classes was crushed in the war, and never regained its political power. The Civil War was more than just a sequence of battles. It was a nationwide tragedy that had a weighty impact on all aspects of American society. Men were taken from farms, factories and plantations and sent to fight one another leaving women and children to tend to the home front. A large number if casualties on both sides meant that everyone was directly affected by the bloodshed, even those living far from the scene of battle. In the areas where battles did occur, homes, farms, schools, and bridges were steamrolled. War led to the disturbance of American society on an unparalleled scale.…
