GENERAL NOTES

Initial Action ((by person detecting the FIRE)):

*Activate the nearest manual activator for General Alarm (six or more short blasts followed by one prolonged blast).
*Advise the Officer of the Watch
*If possible, extinguish fire with nearest extinguisher
*If unable to extinguish, close all doors/openings and proceed to Emergency Stations

When the Emergency Signal Sounds: o All persons on board muster at their respective muster stations; o All groups conduct a roll call and report to the command center; o Emergency team tackles the emergency with other groups giving support as instructed; o In port, summon shore assistance.

Personal Rescue o Breathing Apparatus o Access o Resuscitation and First Aid o Removal o After Care

Oil Spill o Fire Hazard o Containment o Inform Authorities o Clean up

Collision / Stranding o Assess Damage o Control Flooding and Pollution

Rescue Boat o Communication o Additional Equipment o Launching o Recovery

Command Team Actions
Muster on Bridge

o If in Port, advise the terminal or berth supervisor to summon shore assistance. Also advise these parties if Hazardous Cargo is on board; o Commence a log of events; o If at sea, transmit a ‘Safety’, ‘Urgency” or ‘Distress’ signal if considered necessary; o Receive the muster reports of onboard personnel to ensure all are safe and accounted for and initiate onboard search and Rescue if necessary; If in Port send all non-essential personnel ashore; o At sea, adjust ship’s course and speed to minimize any adverse effects of the prevailing wind and weather on the fire and
