Conch Lord Of The Flies
There can be many characters in Lord of Flies that help people to know that man must have rules to control his savage side. The novel ‘lord of the flies’ is written by William Golding, the novel tells us about a group of English boys who are stranded in a tropical empty island.I don’t think there would be anything here if we didn’t have any rules. In lord of the flies you may think it’s a group of boys who are battling out to survive but if you look in deeper you may think twice about what the main messages is trying to get out. The main character in this novel is Ralph he would be described as a leader and a powerful person in the group. This description can be found in chapter 1 when ralph and piggy find a conch. He is elected by the group based on the way he convinced the other boys. Jack on the other hand is Ralph’s enemy . this is because jack is primary representative of the instinct of savagery, violence and the ultimate desire for power. I think the rules keep people from doing wrong because it stops them from getting consequences. There ar many symbols in the novel like the conch it can represent power, democracy and rules. In to kill a mocking bird people wouldn’t feel sorry for there actions towards other people, people would just make themselves feel good so there is no pain. Rules and laws make up the way we live, if we didn’t have rules or laws we might not even be here today. Man must have rules in order to control his savage side in the beginning of the book everybody fellows the rules. But when we start to read the conch becomes a symbol of leader so ralph is then the leader, but jack stir’s things and causes chaos because he does not believe that there should be any
