Concert Jersey Research Paper
George Thorogood Vintage Concert jersey from 1979

This rare concert jersey was purchased at a concert at Royce Hall in 1979. This is from my own collection, and I bought it after the concert. Royce Hall was a venue at UCLA in southern California. This was at the time when the Move It on Over album was getting a lot of airplay. I only wore it once and it has been stored away since then.

The condition is very good; however it is a small jersey. Like many baseball jerseys and t-shirts in the late 70s and 80s, the sizes had a tendency to be smaller than the label. This jersey is supposed to be a large, but is smaller than a typical large size. From the collar to the bottom of the front measures 21 inches.

This is a rare piece of memorabilia

The Concert (A Musical Party) is an oil on canvas, Baroque period painting completed by the Flemish painter Theodoor Rombouts circa 1620. The work portrays a group of five costumed musicians around a table covered with a Persian tapestry rug. Of the five performers, there are four men and one woman. The four men are playing various instruments, the woman appearing to be the vocalist. The play of deep shadows and bright highlights present in this painting make the overall use of chiaroscuro more pronounced, reflecting the strong influence of Caravaggio, a revolutionary Italian painter who Rombouts studied under. Caravaggio’s works, which combine the realistic rendering of the human state with a dramatic use of lighting, had a formative effect…

The concert that I chose to attend was the Gramophone award winners, Pavel Haas Quartet. Veronika Jaruskova, Marek Zxiebel, Pavel Nikl, and Peter Jarusek were the musicians. They were all very talented. Their movements were amazing and no matter the difficulty, they stayed in time with one another. The songs they chose to perform were Quartet No. 1 in B minor, Op. 50 by the composer Prokofiev, Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95 “Serioso” by Beethoven, and Quartet No. 5, Sz. 102 by Bartok. All these pieces were amazing both in difficulty and sound.…

On January 5th, 1920, the New York Yankees announces that would purchase all-star outfielder George Herman "Babe" Ruth from the Boston Red Sox for a total of $125,000. Babe Ruth had played six seasons with the Red Sox, leading them to three World Series victories. He had also pitched a total of 29 2/3 scoreless World Series innings, setting a new league record that wouldn’t be broken for 43 years. He had a sensational 1919 season, breaking the league’s home run record with 29 and also led the American League with 114 runs-batted-in and 103 runs. With his prodigious hitting, pitching and fielding skills, Ruth had surpassed the great Ty Cobb as baseball’s biggest attraction.…

Jersey Shore, on MTV, is a wonderful model of reality television gone wrong. It is definitely one of the worst shows on TV, but has become one of the most popular. The cast of Jersey Shore reinforces negative stereotypes of Italian-Americans, and shows relationships and sex in an extremely negative light. Racial slurs are a part of everyday vocabulary, relationships are all about fighting and infidelity, and sexual activity is no big deal. The cast’s interactions with others show men and women negatively also. These images can have a negative effect on many of the shows young viewers. Although many people recognize the show’s lack of substance, they can’t seem to stop watching it, which only gives the impression that all of these things are acceptable. This show is definitely more than just a bad show, it negatively portrays groups of people, and downplays important issues.…

I went to see Overture to King Stephen, Op. 117 and Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36, both composed by Ludwig van Beethoven and performed by Los Angeles Philharmonic at Disney Hall on December 31 2012. My desire to be a part of the Tri-M Music Honor Society is driven by a passion for performing music. Four years ago, with very little experience under my belt regarding music, I joined the Dracut High School Marching Band, not knowing the difference between the xylophone and the marimba. Little did I know that playing and performing music for myself and others would lead to who I am as a person now.…

    Essay On Baseball Bats

In the beginning of what we call today “baseball”, bats were nothing more than a hunk of wood. Often players would use axe handles or wagon tongues. They would then shape it to their liking or play style using hand tools. Because of this the look of bats were all different, some were long, some skinny, some fat, etc. Mostly the bats back then were bigger and heavier than the ones today. Their thinking was the bigger the mass, the bigger the swing. So you would see bats 42 inches long and 50 ounces because back then there wasn't a limit to the scale of the bat. This would continue for decades until around 1884 when the biggest manufacturer of baseball bats came to be.…

It was Monday, November 17 cold and snowy outside Ophelia Paris Concert Hall, Truman State University but inside it was all warmth and light as Elaine AuBuchon started the Double Reed Recital. Having not been to any actual classical music concert, I was excited to hear the talent that we have in our campus. I took it upon myself to go with an open mind, without having any previous predispositions that would affect my reaction to the concert. I just wanted to go in there, not knowing anything about the concert, and see what I hear in the music. This concert was open to anyone and free admission. The program presented a variety of styles…

I attended The Works of Thomas Root on Tuesday, March 24th. It featured the Weber State University wind ensemble and symphonic band as well as the WSU Band Alumni. There were many pieces conducted and created by Thomas Root. Most pieces were still unpublished but they were wonderful nonetheless. He also had pieces that were dedicated to people that he had come to meet throughout his life, and a piece was dedicated to his own mother.…

On Sunday April 7 , 2013 I attended the Junior Recital for Michelle Ellison (soprano) and Rachel Stanton (piano) at Oberlin College & Conservatory. Coming to my second show at Oberlin College I really didn’t know what to expect this time around. On this nice day at Oberlin College I observed many students outside playing their instruments and various groups outside singing in circles enjoying the weather. I could tell that these students were very passionate about music. Inside of the conservatory building the recital was held inside of the Kulas Recital Hall. This was my first time entering a room that was made specifically for musical recitals. The hall wasn’t too big but it was large enough to fit a nice sized crowd in a narrow room.…
