The constant evolution of technology gives organizations the edge on the market and allows the company to lead the pack in technology. Originally, I thought that the reason that I wanted to pursue an engineering degree is because of my family. However, I was wrong. Although for two generations, my family members all graduated from different engineering programs in my home country, it was still my own choice to apply to the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto. From my childhood, I was told that my father graduated from the electrical engineering program at the best university in China. So did my mother and grandfather. I was given a heavy burden from then, and once I thought I was going to step onto the exactly same path as my family did until I stepped on the land of Canada for the first time. For the past three years I have changed a lot. I guess it is not only because of the better education system of Ontario, but also because that my field of vision has been widened. I chose the University of Toronto simply because I am interested in Engineering Science, and because the engineering programs in the University of Toronto are definitely the best choices among all. I realize that I am most interested in the biomedical engineering program in Engineering Science program, and I really hope that I can further improve my knowledge and vision there.…

First of all, Electronics Engineering is my field of study, it would be typical that workers go to houses to replace, install or fix any issues with electronics devices. To illustrate this better, if a customer is having difficulties with the installation of their internet router, they will call the company responsible and the company may send one or two technicians that will follow the problem through and figure out what is the most likely problem and finally fix it. Electronics Engineering is a field that requires the interaction of both customer and technicians, it is essential that they both cooperate in order to solve the problem as soon as possible.…

Mr Rowley wanted a switch board for his new hotel, the Medina Palms in Watamu. It needed to handle enough power for lights, heat and air conditioning in all 50 separate villas, the pool’s filtration system, security cameras, and the hotel’s kitchens and bars: drawing approximately 1000kVA from the national grid and directing it through hundreds of individual switches and control units built into one central console. I picked up my pencil- this was not an electrical engineering exam at school: instead of lounging at the beach with my friends, I had chosen to spend my summer at Specialised Power Systems (“SPS”), designing and building Mr. Rowleys‘s switchboard.…

There is an old paradigm that says,”To stay where you are, keep running”. Today I realize how true it is because unless we keep track of changes and advances being made we will be considered pariah. As I stand at the threshold of completing my under-graduate in the field of Information Technology (IT), after contemplating all the career options open to me I have decided to go for the graduate study, Masters in Management Information System (MS in MIS) that require personal commitment and individual involvement. In turn I shall get intellectual satisfaction and gratification of becoming a contributor of knowledge with research. I understand that what I choose today is something I am going to spend my entire life with. Now, on the verge of completion of my Under-Graduate studies, I realize that my present knowledge would not suffice. I feel that unless one is erudite in his field, one cannot be fully satisfied.…
