Computer Information System Brief
Kudler Fine Foods is a specialty grocery store located in the San Diego area. The first location was opened by Kathy Kudler in June 1998. Currently there are three locations in La Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas. Kudler Fine Foods has a variety of domestic and imported food and beverage items including produce, meat, seafood, condiments, packaged foods, cheese, dairy products, wine, and a bakery. Our firm has been hired by Kudler Fine Foods in order to assess their accounting and information technology systems. This brief will address their business and accounting information needs, their current hardware and software, the strengths and weaknesses of the current computer system, explore opportunities for upgrades in technology use, evaluate threats regarding the current information technology systems, and recommendations that could improve their ability to conduct business.
Business and Accounting Needs
Kudler Fine Foods has many needs when it comes to general business and accounting. Some of the types of general business needs of Kudler Fine Foods are sales, marketing, advertising, human resources, maintenance, communications, customer relations, and information technology. Accounting needs for Kudler Fine Foods include payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital assets, inventory, purchasing, general ledger, point of service transactions, bank reconciliations, and security. It is imperative that all of the needs of Kudler Fine Foods be satisfied in the most cost effective and efficient way as possible in order to continue to offer the very best in specialty foods to the San Diego area. In order to meet the high level of customer satisfaction that Kudler Fine Foods would like, we need to research the current computer information system that they are using.
Current Hardware and Software
Currently, a modular and scalable retail management system (RMS) is being used as their information system to conduct business and accounting activities. This

    | IntroductionThe factors that affect the use of information technology by students in Nigerian University libraries varies from availability of resources and materials, management and administration as well as students attitude and disposition. Laudon, (2002) explained that information technology is one of the many tools managers use to cope with changes, adding that computer which is at the core is the physical equipment used for imputing data and processing output. Computer provides the processing, storage and retrieval facilities while telecommunications provide the facilities for the transfer or communication of data and information to users.The emergence and use of information technology has improved efficiency in the performance of routine tasks in the library, like acquisitions, cataloguing and user services. The flow of work is speeded up and library users are served without much delay. Acquisition and cataloguing of some essential relevant materials are now processed online, while the on-line public access catalogue (OPAC) is in vogue in the milieu of most automated (academic) libraries.
