CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Readers will get an idea on what the study is all about in this chapter. The aim, the coverage of the study, the benefits this research could give you, and the reason for conducting the study are also stated here.
Introduction
Sibling rivalry is one of humanity 's oldest problems. One of the first stories in the Bible (the oldest book in Western civilization, and the story of the ancient Jewish culture) deals with the rivalry between two brothers, Cain and Abel. The older brother, Cain, was irritated at constantly having to help take care of his younger brother, Abel, and kept asking his parents: "Am I my brother 's keeper?" The story of these two brothers has a tragic ending; Cain becomes so angry that he kills Abel and this, according to the Bible, was the first murder in history. The fact that this is one of the first stories within the Bible shows the great importance given to the problem of sibling rivalry within the Jewish culture.
In nature there are some extreme cases of sibling rivalry. For example, as baby sharks develop within the mother shark 's womb, the biggest baby shark devours all of his brothers and sisters, ensuring for himself all of the available food resources. In another example, eagles make their nests at great heights, in mountains or trees. The first baby eaglet that is born kills all his sibling eaglets by pushing them out from the nest as they come out of their eggs. That way all the food that the mother eagle brings will be only for him.
A similar competition exists between siblings in human families. However, here the scarce resources are the time, love, approval, and attention that the parents can give to each of their children.
Background of the Study Sibling rivalry is the jealousy, competition and fighting between brothers and sisters. It is a concern for almost all parents of two or more kids. Problems often start right after the birth of the second child. Sibling rivalry usually continues throughout childhood and can be very frustrating and stressful to parents. There are quite a variety of causes of sibling rivalry. In fact, the exact causes of sibling rivalry in one family are almost never the same as the causes of sibling rivalry in another family. Still, there are overarching sorts of factors and events that can be, ultimately, the root causes of any sibling rivalry. Knowing what these important factors and events are, can help you to not only understand the causes of sibling rivalry, but to deal with sibling rivalry more effectively when it does occur. As stated earlier, sibling rivalry starts even before the second child is born, and continues as the kids grow and compete for everything from toys to attention. The order of the children in the family, does it have something to do with the rivalry between children? The youngest child of the family is the baby of the family. They are the ones that is being spoiled by the parents. According to others, the youngest member of the family is the favorite of the parents among their children. Parents are said to be biased when it comes to their attention among their children. Owing to these statements, the researcher, conducted the study in order to identify if the youngest member of the family is usually the one that causes rivalry between siblings.

Objectives of the Study
General Objective
This study seeks to determine if being the youngest child of a family is a factor of sibling rivalry: 1. To know the characteristics of being the youngest child; 2. To know the indicators that trigger sibling rivalry; 3. To know if being the youngest child is a reason why there is rivalry between the siblings

Statement of the Problem
This research aims to determine if being the youngest has to do with the factors that causes sibling rivalry among selected students in SBSN.
Sub-problems:
1. What are the characteristics of being the youngest child?
2. What are the indicators that trigger sibling rivalry?
3. Is being the youngest child a reason why there is rivalry between the siblings?
Significance of the Study This study will determine if the youngest child is a contributing factor to the sibling rivalry. The motivation of this study emanates from the fact that this study of the factor that affect sibling rivalry makes the readers have an idea on how to handle this kind of situation and this can benefit many people to realize what the real cause of rivalry among siblings is nowadays. This study will benefit the parents. Parents will acquire knowledge about the factor studied (the youngest child) and its contribution to the sibling rivalry, and they will be aware about it. And of course, they will do something to make things right. This study will be beneficial also to the students and readers. This will give them realizations. It is important to have such knowledge about these things because we think that parents are doing the right thing to their children when they are starting to grow physically, mentally or emotionally but the reality is that they are molding their children to become what they don’t expect them to be. This study could also be used for future researches.

Hypothesis Being the youngest child is not a contributing factor to the sibling rivalry of SBSN selected students.

Scope and Delimitations The researcher would like to give emphasis on some of the points that may be identified a sense of failure to provide a grounded finding of the study.
This study will only focus on one factor that affects the Sibling Rivalry: The Youngest Child.
The study only focuses to the high school students who are the youngest member of their family. The small number of respondents is a result of making the study in only one locale, which is the St. Benedict School of Novaliches.

CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

In this chapter, the researcher gathered all the research materials that support the idea of the said study. The readers will have clear understanding about this study after reading this chapter.

Youngest Child Many children fight because of their position in their family. Understanding their personal status or role in the family is a part of growing up, (Knight, 2000). It is natural for the older brother to react to the birth of a new baby with feelings of jealousy, resentment, insecurity, anger and sadness. What is sometimes hard for parents is to see the way in which these feelings make themselves known: One child may try to hurt their younger brother/sister physically or say that they don’t want him/her as their brother, (Pick, 2003). Often, sibling rivalry starts even before the second child is born and continues as they grow and compete with everything from each other from toys to attention. Most brothers and sisters feel jealousy and competition, and this can lead to squabbles and bickering,
(Harkness & Pendley, 2006).
Sibling Rivalry Sibling rivalry is a term most often associated with children; young brothers and sisters’ jealousy struggle for their parents’ attention, (Fowler, 2008). Sibling rivalry is a normal, healthy part of life. No matter how children are well behaved, they will still fight or argue with each other. The severity and frequency of sibling rivalry depends on different things like personality of each individual and their age difference. It is already common that the younger children there are, the more rivalry will be. There is generally more competitiveness between children who are close in age, (Zolten & Long, 2006).

Parents do not always consider that when an older child picks on a younger one, it may be because he or she is feeling left out, ignored or unheard. The younger one always gets the right side and the older one is wrong. Often, the main reason for this is because of their parents’ attention. They’ll fight because they are bored and they want to get their parents involved in the middle. (Yoder & Proctor, (2000).
Adolescents have other relatives and the influences they can get from their relatives are important for them. Sibling relationships are substantial because they can affect someone 's personality as he grow up. One example is the oldest siblings should serve as an example for his/her other siblings. This will greatly transform the maturation of his/her brothers or sisters and this influences may be good or bad, (Ardelt & Day, 2002).
Problems and pressure are present in all sibling relationships but this can be decreased as they grow up. While they experience maturation, they tend to change their way of treating their siblings wherein conflicts can be avoided and be replaced by friendship, (Rice & Dolgin, 2005).
Sometimes, your sibling/s can be your rival/s in everything you can compete on. But as soon as you learn that your sibling is more important than anything else, friendship will rise and suddenly your bond with your sibling will be developed, (Fishel, 2000).
It is difficult for parents and the older sibling to adjust to the presence of a new born child. The older siblings now find their positions seriously threatened and makes them feel neglected. So the problem with the newborn child can become so severe that doctors and nurses these days warn new mothers of second children about it, (Samalin, 2002).
Definition of Terms
Bickering – an angry, petty dispute or quarrel; contention
Jealousy – is an emotion, and the word typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something of great personal value, particularly in reference to a human connection
Sibling Rivalry – competition between siblings especially for the attention, affection, and approval of their parents
Squabble – to engage in a disagreeable argument, a noisy quarrel, usually about a trivial matter

CHAPTER III
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
In this chapter, you will know the data-gathering procedures that the researcher had used in the study. It covers also the research locale, samples and sampling technique, instrumentation and statistical analysis.
Research Design
This thesis intends to find out if the Youngest Child has something to do with the Sibling Rivalry of SBSN Selected Gr.7 and Gr.8 Students Batch 2014-2015.
The descriptive method of research will be used in this study since it is concern with the present status of the students. Descriptive research is used to describe characteristics of a population or phenomenon being studied. The methods involved range from the survey which describes the status, the correlation study which investigates the relationship between variables, to developmental studies which seek to determine changes over time, (Key, 1997).

Research Locale
The researcher selected the grade 7 and 8 students for him to be able to meet the requirements of his thesis. The researcher is only allowed to conduct his survey in school premises. The faculty of SBSN had helped the researcher in distributing the thesis. The answering of questionnaire took place in St. Benedict School of Novaliches, having its address to be 1037 Clamor Compound Congressional Road Extension, Caloocan City North 1422.

The researcher only selected some few students in grade 7 and 8 so he got a total of 104 students. He has chosen the grade 7 and 8 because they are the youngest among the other high school levels which can give the most number of a youngest child.

Research Instrument
The researcher had to require information on a range of subjects concerned in the study and used a survey questionnaire to gather information from his chosen respondents for justification. This type of research instrument shows a manifestation of advantages over other forms of data collection: these are usually inexpensive to administer that contains large amount of information from a large number of people, it can be develop by a short time of training and the results can be easily and quickly analyzed and interpreted by the researcher once completed compared to other forms of research instrumentation.
The questionnaire consists of three (3) parts that contains five (5) questions for each that discusses the dependent variable, independent variable and the connection between the two (2).
The first part is a multiple-choice type of test that consists of five (5) questions regarding the characteristics of the youngest child which will answer sub-problem number one (1).
The second part consists of five (5) yes or no type of questions that will answer the second sub-problem which talks about the indicators that trigger sibling rivalry.
The last part is a 5-point Likert Scale that intends to identify if being the youngest child is a reason why there is sibling rivalry between siblings.
Data Gathering Procedures The accumulation of data made by the researcher was started before the researcher’s third year in High School ended, they were consulted by the director of the SBSN, Mr. Emmanuel Fabella, and by the English teachers regarding their thesis titles which was then followed by the responsibility to gather information about their chosen titles. The researcher had gone to De La Salle University to research about his topic in advance even though it was not yet approved that time. The researcher had formulated many titles to begin his thesis and he wanted to conduct a study that is unique and something that fits with his interest. The titles he had formulated were not approved, the teachers he had consulted said that the topics are already have been used by the previous researchers. The seniors were also required to enroll in their school’s thesis seminar which was held on April 28, 2014 – May 23, 2014 that is given by St. Benedict School of Novaliches. The researcher had attended and successfully completed the Thesis Seminar before the official start of the school year 2013-2014. During their thesis seminar, he developed his knowledge about the whole thesis. The whole content were discussed briefly and they also took written tests. On the second week, the researcher’s title was approved by his thesis adviser, Ms. Ivy C. Lugtu, who helped him in revising his title. Weeks have passed and they were asked to find and start to research for reliable sources for their chosen topics. The school year had started already and they were told that they will be having thesis subject every Friday. Ms. Kaela Marie Flores, the 4th year’s English teacher and thesis adviser, gave them a recap about the contents of the thesis and taught new lessons. In the middle of July 2014, they were asked to pass their Chapter II. The researcher went to different libraries to gather data for his topic. August 8, 2014 was the deadline for the submission of their final survey questionnaires that was given by Ms. Kaela. But before the said date, Ms. Ivy, the researcher’s thesis adviser, checked his survey questionnaire. They were also asked to pass their Chapter III outline. The tallying of data and making of tables were made after receiving back the survey questionnaires. The tables for Chapter IV were checked by Ms. Ivy C. Lugtu. The author organized all of his gathered data and tried his best to finish his thesis before his submission day (November 10, 2014).
Statistical Treatment of Data
For the interpretation and analysis of data, the author used the following statistical tools:
Frequency is the number, proportion or percentage of items in a particular category in a set of data.
Percentage is the proportion or share in relation to a whole. The formula for frequency and percentage is: P= x100%
Where: P= Percentage f= the number of respondents under a category n= total number of respondents This formula is a useful indicator for determining how many respondents agreed or disagreed on a certain question. They can display large data sets which exhibits high degree of accuracy.
The weighted mean is used to measure central tendency. The calculation for the weighted mean is not that complicated. The formula for the weighted mean is: WM=

Where: WM = weighted mean f = frequency χ = score n = sample size

Analysis The first statement intends to know on how they see their older brother/sister. The first choice, which is as their rival, gained a frequency of 55 which is 52.88%. For the second choice, there are 34 students, which is equivalent to 32.69%, answered that their older sibling/s serves as their partner in crime. The third choice, which their sibling serves as their companion, gained a frequency of 30 with a percentage of 28.85%. The next choice gained a frequency of 17 which is 16.35% that is all about their older sibling/s as a bully or a bad person. The fifth choice has a frequency of 16 with a 15.38% in percentage. As for the last choice, only 12 students, which are 11.54%, who chose the choice others and they indicated their answers. The second question intends to know if what they will do when their sibling asks them to do something and the first choice gained a frequency of 35 students which is 33.65%. The second choice has a frequency of 11 with 10.58% in percentage and identified that they will not follow their older siblings. For the third choice, there are 18 students with a percentage of 17.31% who will pretend that they do not hear their older brother/sister. The fourth choice gained a frequency of 65 students, which is 62.5%, who chose to tell their older brother/sister to do it themselves. For the last choice, which contain the other options, there are only 2 students with 1.92% and stated their own action with regards the question. The question for number 3 is “When you cannot do something on your own and your sibling is the only one available to help you, what do you do?” There are 9 students with a percentage of 8.65% and said that they will ask their siblings for help. On the next choice, there are 17 students with 16.35% who agreed that they should try to do it on their own so that they would not lose their pride. While the other choice gained a frequency of 86 students with 82.69% who will wait for their parents/guardian to be available. Meanwhile, there are still 3 students with a percentage of 2.88% who will just give up and ignore the task. For the last choice, which is the other options, gained a frequency of 2 students with 1.92%. The question for number 4 intends to know the reaction of the respondents when their older sibling has something that they do not have. There are 50 students with 48.08% who said that they tend to get jealous with their brother/sister. The next choice has a frequency of 12 students with 11.54% in which they will tell their parents to buy them also that particular thing that their sibling had. On the third choice, there are 6 students with a percentage of 5.77% who will try to steal something that they want from their sibling while the other choice, which is “I use it when my sibling is not around” also gained the same frequency of 6 students with 5.77% in percentage. Meanwhile on the 5th choice, there are 17 good-hearted students with 16.35% who will borrow the same thing that they want from their older brother/sister, but there is also 40 students with a percentage of 38.46% who will just do/react nothing from what is happening. On the last part of the choices, which is the other options, gained a frequency of 2 students with 1.92%. The last question is “What do you do when your sibling hurts you – physically or emotionally? There are 14 (13.46%) students who will just cry with that particular situation. On the other choice, 58 students with a percentage of 55.77% who will fight back against their older sibling/s and the next choice gained a 21 (20.19%) students who will tell their parents/guardian about what happened. The next choice gained a frequency of 15 students, with a percentage of 14.42%, who will tell their older brother/sister to stop and there are 28 (26.92%) students who will just keep quiet. Meanwhile on the 6th choice, there are 11 students with a percentage of 10.58% who will curse their older sibling. For the last question, which contains the other options, there is only 1 student who indicated his/her option with a percentage of only 0.96%.
Interpretation
As seen in the percentages of questions 1-3, younger siblings generally tend to view their older siblings as a rival. Added to this, younger siblings generally tend to avoid their older siblings and wait for their parents rather than asking their siblings. Meanwhile, in question 4 it can be seen that younger siblings in general is concerned and tend to get jealous with regards to their material possessions in comparison to their sibling 's , but in question no. 5, it is seen how the majority of the youngest child will defend themselves when provoked by their older siblings.

Analysis In question number 1, 62 students said that they usually get what they want that is equivalent to 59.62%. On the other hand, there are 42 students, which is 40.38%, who answered no. They still don’t get what they want even though they are youngest ones. To give justification in question number 2, it shows that 86% of the respondents are saying no. Therefore, it only shows that the parents are not treating their children equally and only 17.31% of them are experiencing the equal treatment of their parents between their siblings. And in number 3, it is identified that 52.88% of the respondents considered the dividing of household chores often a cause of a fight between them and their sibling/s. Only 47.12% of them answered no. As for question number 4, 52.88% of the respondents experienced being compared to their siblings and only 47.12% of them answered no and didn’t experienced that kind of situation. In question number 5, 64.42% of the respondents were found to have fights with their sibling/s and only 35.58% of them didn’t experienced fight/s between them and their sibling/s.
Interpretation
As seen in the table, younger siblings often get what they want. It can be refer to either material things or their authority only to their sibling/s although they are the youngest one in the family. Due to this, it can lead to fights and quarreling. The unequal treatment and distribution of household chores of parents can also trigger the rivalry between their children. Due to these, it can also be seen how siblings often get in a fight.
Table 3. Connection of the Youngest to the Sibling Rivalry

Analysis In the first statement, they were asked if they feel inferior to their older sibling/s. It is identified that there are only 10 students who answered strongly agree and there are 24 students who answered agree. As for the undecided part, it gained a frequency of 46 students. There are also 15 students who disagree and 9 students who are strongly disagree that they feel inferior when it comes to their older sibling/s. The researcher computed for the weighted mean and got a result of 3.11 which is interpreted as “Undecided” for the final result. The item number 2’s statement is “I need to prove to everyone that I am just as good as or even better than my older sibling/s.” There are 22 students who strongly agreed and 42 students who actually agreed with the statement. But, 27 students are still undecided and there are only 8 students who strongly disagreed and disagreed with the topic. As a whole, the weighted mean is 3.65 and interpreted as an “Agree” for the verbal interpretation. In the third statement, 15 students strongly agreed and 25 students who answered agree. The undecided part gained another high frequency of 30 students and as for the next choices, 23 students who disagreed and only 11 students who actually disagreed that they take advantage of the fact that they are the youngest child and people would take that as an excuse for their mistakes. The computed weighted mean is 3.10 and the interpretation for this is still “Undecided”. For the fourth statement, which is “People should give me more attention because I’m the youngest child and I need more assistance.” There are 12 students who answered strongly disagree and 19 students agreed. Only 21 students who are still undecided for the topic and 24 students disagreed and 28 students who answered strongly disagree. The weighted mean for this is 2.64 and interpreted as “Undecided”. The last statement gained a frequency of 17 students who answered strongly agree and 34 students agreed that age and gender differences serve as obstacles to a harmonious relationship between them and their sibling/s. As for the next choice, there are 31 students who are still undecided. 14 students who disagreed and 8 students answered strongly agree. The researcher computed for the weighted mean and 3.37 is the result and interpreted as “Undecided”.
Interpretation
To begin, most of the respondents are generally undecided if they feel inferior to their older sibling/s, they take advantage of being the youngest, age and gender differences and also if they should get many attention though they view that they need to prove that they 're better than their siblings. Overall, the respondents are still undecided if being the youngest child can be a cause of sibling rivalry.

Chapter V
Summary OF FINDINGS, ConclusionS, and Recommendations

In this chapter, the researcher summarized all the findings that he discovered throughout the entire study. The researcher has determined if the study proves the hypothesis. Lastly, the researcher has given recommendations for different people who will benefit this study.
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
The main purpose of this study is to determine if Being the youngest child is a factor to the sibling rivalry of the SBSN selected Gr.7 and Gr.8 students. It also has the purpose to know the characteristics of the youngest child and the indicators that trigger sibling rivalry.
The following are the findings based from the survey conducted:

1. Among the given characteristics of a youngest child, being dependent to their parents is the characteristic that the respondents show the most and reached the highest frequency of 86 with a percentage of 82.69%
2. The youngest child believes in their own strength and they won’t seek help from their sibling just to finish or accomplish something. It is the common attitude of the youngest child.
3. Most of the students has an attitude where they can react brutally or do cruel things with their siblings that lead to fights.
4. The youngest child are too possessive when it comes to material things or even attention from their parents/guardian.
5. Older siblings are the most influential for the respondents because it can be seen on how the students answered and react on the questionnaire.
CONCLUSION
According to the information and sources gathered by the researcher, youngest child is really a problem within a family. First of all, the youngest one has the attitutude because of the pampering of parents with them. Older siblings may have felt being left out because of the youngest child so they will try to find a way to get their parent’s or guardian’s attention and so will be the youngest one. Age differences can also be a factor to the sibling rivalry because the more closer are their age, the more fights will exist because of the level of their maturity is not yet that fully developed. If the older sibling/s are very matured already or much older than the youngest one, it can work out and there will be less fights because they are already matured to face problems or fights with their younger brother/sister and they can understand the standing of their sibling which is younger than them and they can teach them good things to be followed as they grow up. Based from the findings that is gathered from the survey conducted, the hypothesis, saying that being the youngest child is not a contributing factor to the sibling rivalry, is rejected. It can be proved by just looking at the answers given by the respondents. Students showed their attitudes when it comes to their older siblings. First, they fight back whenever their older sibling/s hurt them instead of talking to them properly as a sign of respect. By this, it will just lead to a long fight and argument. Second, they agreed that they need to prove to everyone that they are just as good as or even better than their older sibling/s. Just with these two results, the researcher therefore conclude that youngest child is really a factor that causes sibling rivalry between siblings.
RECOMMENDATION
For the parents:
1. Be a good example to your child because they see you as their leader to follow, than to follow other people.
2. Know your child’s attitude.
3. Have time for your family and children.
4. Avoid favoritism between your own children.
5. Have time to talk to your children.
6. Give equal attention for your children.
7. Nourish them with your love.
For the students:
1. Respect your sibling/s because they are older than you.
2. Take time to think in doing your actions.
3. Listen to your parents as well as your siblings for they know what is better for you.
4. Avoid being selfish.
5. Do not compete with your siblings.
6. Don’t fight back with your siblings.
7. Consult parents immediately if problem arises.

Growing up I know I have had my fair share of arguments with my brothers, whether it be about who gets to watch their show or who gets to be player 1, regardless of the situation I knew that we would grow out of our rivalries and mature. Similarly in both books they were able to get pass their rivalries and find peace in the end although it took some time. Then in both books we see siblings feuding with each other, what they’re arguing over may be different, but with each new argument that arises we see each sibling crawling for the edge over the other. Although the context is different in each piece of literature we can see that the sibling’s argument is sparked by a parent’s preference for one child over the other and the actual reason for their disagreement is miniscule in actual meaning.…

Siblings ultimately share an “intense emotional tie” connecting them together (Schilb 346). This emotional tie is like an unsaid pact that siblings have that binds them together for life. This pact can build siblings relationships and draw them closer, or eventually discourage them and draw them apart. Growing up with a sibling tends to be very hard and very intense. Siblings are always in a constant battle consciously or unconsciously trying to one up their fellow brothers and/or sisters. This subconscious battle is what causes sibling rivalry. Especially in an older sibling, who is always trying to out do their younger sibling and would do anything to accomplish dominance. Jealously is the sole driver that causes a sibling to want…

At one point in time, everyone has felt rivalry or as if they were in competition withsomeone. In A Separate Peace by John Knowles, main characters; Gene Forrester and Phineashave a close relationship based solely on rivalry. The two teenage boys would compete with eachother in both sports and academics. But do all relationships have some sort of rivalry , whether itbe known or quiet? Based on observations from the reading, examples from the novel and, personal experiences , I do believe relationships in general have some sort of rivalry.Referring to observations made from the novel, rivalry or jealousy can immensely affectone's thoughts. It may cause them to engage in actions they would have never performed in theirright mind. For instance, when Gene intinitally jostled the tree…

This can emotionally scar the non-favorite kid and can lead to many long-term emotional issues. Studies show that sibling rivalry is much greater when one of them is favored over the other. This was the case in both Charles and Adam and also Cal and Aron. Charles was jealous of Adam and beat him up because of it several times. Further down the line Cal broke Aron’s heart by taking him to the brothel out of anger and jealously. I was placed in a similar situation as Charles was when I was younger. My parents liked everything my brother had given them and dismissed anything I gave them. In the novel East of Eden, we see parental favoritism very often, and my life experiences of this were kept in mind as I read this…

    Complete Maus Thesis

The Complete Maus is a compelling book written by Art Spiegelman. It was typically about a son who had interviewed his father, a lone survivor of the Holocaust. Art Spiegelman was the son of Vladek Spiegelman. He wrote this book because he wanted to know what his father's life was like throughout the Holocaust, more about his mother Anna, and also, he felt very guilty that he was not alive until after the Holocaust had occurred. Throughout the book, readers will find images of the characters portrayed throughout the story. Art Spiegelman uses animals in his comic like book. The Jews were portrayed as mice, and the Germans and Poles were portrayed as cats and pigs. It is different knowing what the main characters look like behind a drawn animal, until the readers actually know what their true face looks like.…

One interview was of my own sibling and the other an identical twin that I went to high school with. Dakota Chaney, my twin brother, describes out relationship as being very loving. He states, “I genuinely care about my sister and I know that she cares about me. It’s not how people think it is. In fact, I think there’s less of a sibling rivalry between us than just regular siblings.” Dakota’s experiences have contradicted the typical stereotype of it being “so terrible” to have a twin. He says that his sibling relationship is quite enjoyable and not that bad. In fact, Dakota states, “My family and even strangers don’t realize how close we are. I think that sometimes they get confused and mix up our kind of sibling relationship with those who aren’t twins. Not to reverse stereotype, but siblings who are not twins seem to be more distant and fight a lot more. With my sister and I, this isn’t the case.” This isn’t to say that twins don’t argue at all. We still have our tiffs, but they are few and far between due to how close we are to each other. Going through the same situations and problems and helping each other find solutions helps twins to become very close and may even contribute to their lack of fighting rather than what most would think of as causing an…

An annoying argument. A conceited conflict. A vengeful vendetta. A dangerous disagreement. Merriam-Webster defines feud as a mutual enmity or quarrel that is often prolonged or inveterate (Feud). It’s what happens when a silly dispute turns serious. It’s what occurs when a simple brawl turns into an elaborate war. To understand a true feud, one should have a true example, a borderline example, and a non example. The infamous fall out of Taylor Swift and Kanye West, although petty and dramatic, this is an excellent example of a real feud. The beloved Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet. The Capulets and Montagues had a lasting argument passed down from one generation to the next, which makes it a non example of a feud. The ogre-like men in…
