Define CI: * Gather and organize information from you surroundings * The ability to gather, analyze/understand and use information to gain competitive advantage, (to be able to have the “first mover advantage”) * CI includes analyzing and monitoring: * Macro-economic drivers (is the market in growth or decreasing?) * Industrial drivers * Competitive situation (new products, invading our market?) * Technological drivers * Trend monitoring * Regulatory (laws, limitations, rules)

The work process of PBL/purpose: * It’s a group process/team building (more people, more and different knowledge) * Different way to learn, Use what you know and research and find new information on what we don’t know/what we need to know * Use knowledge in real situations * A challenge, more than just answering a question * 7. Syntheses summarize and evaluate

It’s an ongoing circle (seven steps or eight steps), each “round” brings new questions/problems which needs to be resolved.

* Prepare for real life tasks * Encourage people to actively participate in the learning process, rather than just receiving a lot of information from a teacher that later will be forgotten * Practical tasks, rather than theoretical. Its doing, not only reading about it, (learning by doing)
Different CI approaches/how to gain information: * Observing (like the boat example) * Gather
