Competency1
Competency Goal 1 To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment as teachers we must establish rules and routines that children can help prevent us from getting sick or hurt. The way I maintain this is by making sure that my children learning environment is safe and clean on a daily basis. Before the children arrive, I check all indoor and outdoor equipment on a daily basis. I clean toys and play equipment on a weekly basis. If I have any issues with toys or any play equipment I report this to my director. As my children arrive, I do my daily health check to make sure I am aware of the condition of each child. If I feel that something I see is suspicious I know to report it to the Florida Abuse Hotline at 18009622873. As mandated reporters we are required by law to report any suspicious activity dealing with the the children we deal with on a daily basis. During learning times I include safe and healthy habits in our lessons and routines to keep ourselves safe and healthy. For example, we wash our hands be fore we eat, sneeze ,cough, before we start a new activity , before we eat snack, after we use the restroom. Before I take my class outside I do a playground safety check to make sure that the playground is safe for my children to play and free from dangerous hazards that can hurt my children. If while I am outside one of my children get hurt I have my first aid kit and my incident report on hand. If the situation is severe we have walkie talkies I can call for help or have some one call 911. As a teacher I feel that it is very important that we keep our classroom learning environment clean and safe from harm. As teachers it is our responsibility to lead by example and model the safe and healthy behaviors that will carry our children though

To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I model safety practices and healthy routines in an environment that supports development and growth in these areas. My goal is to provide a clean healthy environment that meets each child’s physical needs. Making sure the classroom and playground are clean and safe at all times reduces the number of injuries of children while they are in my care. One of the ways I do this is by supervising children at all times by sight and sound even during nap times. Making sure all outlets are covered so children can’t access them. I make sure inside as well as outside there is nothing children can harm themselves on such as sharp objects or small items they can choke on. I ensure that all chemicals and cleaning supplies are put away out of the reach of children or stored in locked cabinets. I am certified in First Aid and CPR, which makes me knowledgeable of caring for accidents or injuries.…

In order to establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I first begin with providing a clean and organized classroom. All toys and equipment are sanitized on a daily basis, all outlets are covered and all fixtures are mounted to the walls to prevent from tipping over. Upon entering the classroom every parent is required to sign a daily health check in which the teacher and the parent both assess the health of each child. Healthy meals and snacks are provided to each and every child, keeping in mind, the allergies that each child has. Medicines are also carried for each student that requires it on a daily basis. The classroom tables are wiped down and sanitized and the floor is swept after each meal. The children also brush their teeth after meals to help the children gain healthy brushing habits. The teacher child ratio is maintained at all times.…

The first competency emphasized a good cooperation with other health care professions. The difficulty in developing this competency may due to the patient specific conditions that may give a health care provider more “tough time” if proper communication were not made before interacting with the patient. For example, during my first clinical rotation, My CI needed to treat her last patient of the day, however, the patient was in a bad mood and reluctant to participate to therapy. My CI asked me to bring the patient to the therapy gym. It took me a great effort to explain the benefit of exercise and finally he said he will come after napping for two hours. I went back to my CI and told her the patient decision. My CI said that she needed to leave in one hour because she has children in day care that needed to be picked up. So she went to the patient room and brought the patient to the gym for exercise. The patient was very unhappy to complete his therapy session, which might cause him giving a hard time to the nurse and CNAs, who would come to see him later of the day. I always reflect back about how to deal with this case better. The CNAs and nurse would have been frustrated since the therapy made him unhappy. Maybe communicating with the nurse and…

To promote involvement and positive relationships with families and communities I believe that an open door policy is essential to have. I would do this by talking with the parents every day at drop off and pick up time. During the morning drop off time I would be able to find out how the previous afternoon went, if I wasn't there to see it myself, and how the child slept the previous night. I could also find out whether or not the child ate breakfast. During afternoon pick up time I would be able to tell the parent how the child's day went. I would also keep daily sheets for each child that would include bathroom breaks, what and how much the child ate throughout the day, as well as any concerns or questions I might have about the child. Another way I would keep the open door policy is by sending home a weekly newsletter informing the parents of what would be going on that week in the classroom. I would encourage parents to call the center or stop by to see how things are going for the child. I know that when parents are working they, often times, wonder about the child's day. By calling or stopping by they are able to peek in on the child and get updates are how the day is going. I would also encourage parents to attend any special event that the child is apart of, such as Christmas programs. The parents would, also, be more than welcome to have lunch with the child on his or her birthday if they are available to do so. I believe that, as a teacher, it is important to be the support system for the child while he or she is at school and while the parents are away at work. If the parents are working on something, such as using manners or potty training, I would be more than willing to help them by reinforcing that task while the child is at school. It is very important for both the child and the parents to have consistency in their daily routine. I believe that by…

Core Competency involves incorporating diversity into practice. This skill is associated with several practice behaviors that I will be linking to specific artifacts. The first practice behavior is transforming one’s behavior in response to recognition of one’s biases based in difference and culture. This practice behavior relates to an Alcohol Anonymous meeting that I attended, and I had to write a reflection for my substance abuse class. The second practice behavior is modifying and adapting mainstream knowledge and interventions to meet \ needs of diverse populations and that challenge oppression. This consisted of a population at risk paper I wrote for class regarding human trafficking. The third practice behavior is applying strengths…

Walt Disney once noted: “I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse”. (Disney Dreamer, 1998). Walt Disney’s original core competence was cartoons and animated movies. By combining Imagineering with engineering Disney’s company reached unparalleled success with the creation of the first full length animated movie. This success led to new ideas and one of them was to open a park, a different kind of park. In Disneyland Walt used new technology to bring his characters to life. He called them “Animatronics”. (Magical Kingdoms, July 2008) Together with unique storytelling and high quality of service Walt Disney created a magical environment for his guests which none of the competitors could quite duplicate. It became Walt Disney’s core competency. Disney once said: “Anything that has the Disney name to it is something we feel responsible for.” (Disney Dreamer, 1998)…

I believe that this list of competencies is a list of what a good trainer must have in order to be successful. A confident trainer will show the trainees what they need to learn and if the trainer is confident it will reassure the trainees that all the information that they are learning is accurate and useful. The time management is also very important because as a trainer you don’t want to run out of time and not cover enough of the material that the trainees need to learn but you also don’t want to finish the training with lots of time left because that could be considered unprofessional and also a waste of company time and money. Patience is a very important attribute to have regardless of your profession but especially when training people. If you get upset or angry when someone doesn’t understand the way you are trying to teach them the information then the trainee will likely shut down and you will lose that person for the rest of the session. Patience leads into flexibility. You have to be flexible when you are training different kinds of people. Not everyone is going to understand the way that you teach something the first time so if you are flexible in your teaching methods you will be able to teach the different types of learning styles and also be able to give different examples to help people learn the material better. Leadership is also very important because if you lack leadership skills you will not be able to keep the attention of the session you are supposed to lead. The trainees will not take what you are saying seriously and be more likely to lose their attention span.…

Skill – refers to abilities which are acquired through practice. These are abilities, which don’t have to be inherent in the person, but through much practice and use, allows the person to get better in doing it. For example, a certain girl applied as a secretary, but her average words-per-minute is about 20 wpm. While 20 wpm is already a manifestation of her skills in typing, due to her daily interaction with the computer, and due to much practice, with prior knowledge that typing skills is critical for her position, she managed to increase her wpm to 85 wpm. It may or may not be aligned with the goal for her of her superior or the organization, but evidently her typing is a skill.…

A core competency is a concept in management theory originally advocated by C. K. Prahalad, and Gary Hamel, two business book writers. core competency

According to this article, core competencies involve many different people on many different levels. Core competencies are concepts that are enhanced as they are used; unlike physical assets of the company that become outdated with time and deteriorate, core competencies develop as they are shared and applied throughout. The concept has three key requirements for a company to view it has a central means to its way the company or employees work. One requirement for a core competency is that it is not easy for competitors to imitate. A company like Apple with its innovation is extremely difficult for other companies to imitate and try to compete with. As companies release similar products to Apple, Apple develops products with newer and more innovated products that surpass competitor’s efforts. The next requirement for a core competency is that it allows for the company to reuse it for a wide variety of markets and products. Mobile applications, or apps, can be used as an example for this requirement as apps can be used on various products for a wide variety of markets and Haier can be used as an example as its products spread throughout vast markets. Apps were first introduced for mobile phones by Apple but were later conformed for use by Amazon and Google Play for Android products, Blackberry for its Blackberry products, Samsung Apps Store for Samsung products and Windows stores for Microsoft products. Apps were first introduced as a gaming hub but have now developed into focusing on various other categories such as business, cooking and lifestyle, music and many other genres one would wish to read or interact with. The last requirement for a core competency is that it contributes to the customer’s benefit of the final product. An example of this would be Honda’s engines. Honda is known as the engine company for the automobile industry and although others have tried, competitors have yet to succeed. Honda has been in the business of engines for longer than any…
