To promote involvement and positive relationships with families and communities I believe that an open door policy is essential to have. I would do this by talking with the parents every day at drop off and pick up time. During the morning drop off time I would be able to find out how the previous afternoon went, if I wasn't there to see it myself, and how the child slept the previous night. I could also find out whether or not the child ate breakfast. During afternoon pick up time I would be able to tell the parent how the child's day went. I would also keep daily sheets for each child that would include bathroom breaks, what and how much the child ate throughout the day, as well as any concerns or questions I might have about the child. Another way I would keep the open door policy is by sending home a weekly newsletter informing the parents of what would be going on that week in the classroom. I would encourage parents to call the center or stop by to see how things are going for the child. I know that when parents are working they, often times, wonder about the child's day. By calling or stopping by they are able to peek in on the child and get updates are how the day is going. I would also encourage parents to attend any special event that the child is apart of, such as Christmas programs. The parents would, also, be more than welcome to have lunch with the child on his or her birthday if they are available to do so. I believe that, as a teacher, it is important to be the support system for the child while he or she is at school and while the parents are away at work. If the parents are working on something, such as using manners or potty training, I would be more than willing to help them by reinforcing that task while the child is at school. It is very important for both the child and the parents to have consistency in their daily routine. I believe that by…

To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment is to know my responsibility as a child care worker. I need to maintain the up keep in my classroom by always knowing what my students are doing and that they are safe. I check to make sure my classroom and the outside play area is safe and secure. When I check the classroom I look to make sure it is clean and free from trash. The equipment is checked for good working condition, no sharp objects, and all electrical outlets are covered or out of reach of children. The restrooms are checked for cleanliness and it is made sure to be well stocked. Fire drills are practiced once a month so that the children can be well prepared. In order to keep a healthy learning environment I make sure each children in my care washes his/her hands when entering the center, after a trip to the restroom, before and after eating, after sneezing or coughing, and before and after water play. I also teach the children to sneeze or cough in their sleeves. Gloves are used to help prevent the spread of germs. All noses are checked often in clean if necessary. I have personally been working with the children in my preschool class about feelings and the feelings of others. When a child says unkind words to another child, I step in and get both sides of the story, and if the child is at fault I talk to them about why we don’t do that and I have the child apologize for what they said. On the other hand, actions, such as hitting or scratching, are handled differently. I immediately put myself in the setting, remove the child for a moment, and talk to them about why they did it. If they cannot answer, then I give them the reason and have them repeat it back to me. Afterwards, I will ask the child how they would feel if someone hit or bit them. Trying to make the child understand is a big part of their development.…

There are many significant attributes of children’s lives including, physical and intellectual competence. Although children learn at a different pace than one another, once they start to age their physical and intellectual skills increase. No child is considered “smarter” because he or she might be more advance in one area than another child. Every learning skill that children are grasping on a daily basis has room for improvement.…

My family encompasses such a multitude of strengths, that it’s difficult to pinpoint which ones bring about the most positivity. Personally, I would argue that loyalty is the quintessential strength within my family. Each of us knows our family members will always look out for us and provide whatever they can to enhance our own sense of happiness. My family also spends gargantuan levels of time together. Without spending this quality time together, we’d have no way of furthering, strengthening, and maintaining our relationships with one another. If you’re not willing to take an interest in your family members lives and vice-versa, there’s no chance of establishing a strong relationship with one another. More specifically, within my family, I maintain relationships using different strengths with different members. For example, my mom has always shown the utmost respect towards honesty. No matter what I’ve done, as long as I’m honest with her, our relationship stays strong. My sister on…

As a para-educator, I believe it is imperative to not only meet the educational needs of our students, but also their emotional needs as well. Every day I strive to make each child feel welcome and cared for. I greet them with a smile, and call them by name. I ask them questions in an effort to get to know them, and often have conversations about the things they are interested in. I share with them my interests as well. For example, I have one student in particular who is an avid football fan and we often talk about the scores of our favorite NFL teams on Monday mornings. These interpersonal contacts make the children aware that I am genuinely interested in them as individuals and give them a sense of self-worth. Something as simple as a smile and a kind word can make all the difference in anyone’s day, and for children it can shape their entire lives. I strive to consistently give encouragement and support to each child. By recognizing even the smallest accomplishment, you are instilling in the child the desire to keep practicing and improving skills, thus giving them a foundation for life-long learning.…

Across the decades, there have been countless examples of broken societies in literature . In these places, life has taken on a new meaning than what we know to be true today. These dystopian future novels are often dark, and there is almost always previous event in that timeline that would lead to reason why the system is set up in that particular way. Family is often a big theme in this type of book. Whether it be because that is what the government demands or reprimands, family is almost always an interesting aspect of futuristic/dystopian novels. However, when societies become too controlling or demanding, or when there is a major conflict that affects a large amount of people, the central theme of a whole, happy, and healthy family…

A further difference between generativism and Bloomfieldian and post-Bloomfieldian structuralism - though in this respect generativism is closer to Saussurean structuralism - relates to the distinction that Chomsky draws between competence and performance. A speaker's linguistic competence is that part of his knowledge - his knowledge of the language-system as such - by virtue of which he is able to produce the indefinitely large set of sentences that constitutes his language (in Chomsky's definition of a language as a set of sentences. Performance, on the other hand, is language-behaviour; and this is said to be determined, not only by the speaker's linguistic competence, but also by a variety of non-linguistic factors including, on the one hand, social conventions, beliefs about the world, the speaker's emotional attitudes towards what he is saying, his assumption bout his interlocutor's attitudes, etc. and, on the other hand, the operation of the psychological and physiological mechanisms involved in the production of utterances.…
