Compass Group is a global contract food service and support services company headquartered near London, United Kingdom. It is the largest contract foodservice company in the world and has operations in over 50 countries. It serves around 4 billion meals a year in locations including offices and factories, schools, universities, hospitals, major sports and cultural venues, mining camps and offshore oil platforms.
Compass group PLC is the world’s leading food service company and has grown from domestic operator in United Kingdom to a 400,000 employee global corporation operating in 98 countries. The company’s mission is to develop and original food and service solutions in the workplace, in schools and colleges, in hospitals, at leisure venues, and in remote environments, providing clients with the highest quality service. Its vision is to be the premium operator in the contract catering and support service market with an outstanding reputation for quality, value for money, and client and customer satisfaction. Compass Group North America is the company’s largest division and it generates 40 percent of total revenues and 48 percent of operating profits in 2006. This company’s rapid growth follows a simple motto “acquire the best player in every food service sector, keep their expert management team in place, and give them the behind the scenes resources and support to help them excel”. It is headed by CEO Gary Green. Compass Group services the restaurant industry. The restaurant industry employs the largest number of people in the United States other than the government. I.
