Comparison Of Dr. Seuss 'Book Green Eggs And Ham'
My favorite Dr. Seuss book is “Green Eggs and Ham.” I picked this book because my mom read it to me all the time when I was little boy. Whenever she would read it to me it would always put a smile on my face. My favorite part of the book was when the “Who” that doesn’t like the green eggs and ham finally agrees to try them and likes them, “Say! I like green eggs and ham! I do! I like them, Sam-I-am!” (59) Dr. Seuss’ book “Green Eggs and Ham” is the story of a who named Sam-I-am that encourages the other who (unnamed) to try his green eggs and ham. Sam-I-am suggests many different ways for the who to try them such as in a house, with a mouse, in a box, and with a fox. He repeatedly offers the who a taste but he would always reject it. Sam-I-Am

The children's book “Green Eggs and Ham by Dr.Seuss” by Theodor Geisel has the obvious moral of not judging a book by its cover. The obvious meaning to children would be to try new things. However, from an archetypal criticism point of view, the story is seen as an allegory/metaphor for “Dante's Inferno”. Seen with Sam-I-am being a symbol for the guide Dante has the through Hell, Virgil. The unnamed character representing Dante himself goes through the different circles of Hell, and the green eggs and ham (GEH) symbolizing on the quest for God and freedom of sins.…

George Washington is a brave and good leader, just like a boy named Ralph from the book, The Lord of the Flies. Ralph and George Washington are similar in many different ways, these similarities help both Ralph and George Washington, in their lives. They are similar, because they both have an enemy that is trying to take over, their personalities are similar, and finally both have to lead people to a better situation. “The illiterate of the future will not be the person who cannot read. It will be the person who does not know how to learn,” (ThinkExist). This quote was written in 1928 by an American author of science fiction, Alvin Toffler, and that quote holds true until this day. In “The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me,” by Sherman Alexie, he writes about the difficulties that he experienced as a child overcoming the intellectual limit that was put upon his culture, in this case American Indians. Another writer who experienced some of the harshest moments of American history and is always mentioned when discussing overcoming illiteracy is Fredrick Douglas who wrote “Learning to Read and Write.” Both of these authors have experienced limitations in their culture and yet strived to overcome them to better themselves and break away from the norms of society. Knowing to read…

Tavis Smiley an author and Radio/T.V. host once said there is "2 Americas." The minority glamorous America we and rest of the world can only dream of, and the poverty majority America, the glum true face of our country. Social divides in America leads to more than just racial tensions. Social inequalities are seen in almost every aspect of the American society; to the open eye. My favorite book, at the moment, but one I don’t think I’ll ever forget. The Tale Of Despereaux is by far, the best book I’ve read. It’s about a little mouse named Despereaux, who is the black sheep of the family, he likes to read the books in the king's library, not eat them, like his brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, one day, he falls in love with the princess, though, that’s forbidden. Without a second thought, he tries to get the princess’s attention, and when he does, his sibling finds out. Hurriedly telling their father, he was…

I chose the book Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder and illustrated by Garth Williams. This book was first published in 1932. I chose this book at random from my grandmother’s house over Thanksgiving. I knew that she had all of the books and my sister had used my grandmother’s collection to read them all when she was younger. I just chose the first book that I saw and I really lucked out because it looked interesting. I felt that I could not go wrong with any of the books because they are widely praised for being great reads. This was the first time that I was reading a book from the collection. I had been interested in other titles when I was younger so I never became interested in these books.…

Dr.Seuss’ parents had the most influence on him throughout his writings and illustrations. His father had influenced him through his love of drawing and illustrations. While his Mother had the most influence on his writing technique. Dr.Seuss uses different messages and themes throughout his books. In his book The Lorax, the message reflects his views on environmentalism and how humans are destroying nature. Another example would be in The Cat And The Hat, his theme of the book was how he thought Dick and Jane primers were insanely boring and kids were not interested. That is why Seuss wrote a book that he thought kids would enjoy more. In Seuss’ writing he likes to uses poetic devices such as, internal rhymes and assonance. Internal rhyme…
