Comparing Two Cities In Knoxville, Tennessee
In the past 10 years of my life I have lived in two different locations. The first one is Knoxville, Tennessee and the second is Naples, Florida. They are similar in some ways and different in other ways. Both cities have a couple of months where their economy is strongest and months where it isn’t as busy. The enviroment between the two cities are very different, and lastly the type of people that live in the two cities. While there are differences, the two locations have similarities most people might not think of.

Fall in Knoxville is perhaps the highlight of the year simply for one reason, Saturdays. Whenever the University of Tennessee’s football team is playing at home 108,000 fans are going to the game spending millions of dollars. There is nothing better than watching a home victory and then going out in downtown Knoxville. Not only that but also the fans of the opposing team that rent hotels and go out to eat for every meal. At least a couple thousand of people that aren’t even from Knoxville. All the various restaurants and night life attract all walks of life. Similarly, in Naples hundreds of thousands of people move down every winter to Southwest Florida for “season”. I have been through season for the past

Knoxville is in the middle of a large valley in the Smokey Mountains, and Naples is in Southwest Florida. During the summer it is almost impossible to tell which is hotter, since Knoxville is in the valley it keeps heat in because of the mountains surrounding it. Although in the winter it gets to freezing temperatures while Naples gets to about fifty degrees. Occasionally it snows in Knoxville but I don’t believe it has ever snowed south of Jacksonville. Another similarity between the two places are the animals that call them home. Both cities have bears and deer, but the only major animal that is not present in the Smokies is the

If I had to describe the town I live in I would describe it as a little ole farm town that neighbors with a more city oriented town to the West, then two more farm towns to the North of them, and one to the East, and finally some more city oriented/beach style areas to the South. The relative location for Milton Fl. would have to be Baker Fl. they share the same type of features and style of people. Milton Fl. is a place of farm land, rivers, stream, creeks, and little restaurants in the city limits. Milton and its surrounding towns and cities share a common region of the language, characteristics, climate, and culture. Our human system is filled with all sorts of people with different characteristics and they all work in a unity to supply, fix, and protect our area. They would be trades workers like roofers, mechanics, drivers, farmers. People like our firemen and women, police, and emergency services.…

Portland and Atlanta are very much opposites in a list that can go on and on but they also have some similarities. For instance Portland has a very large, and fast growing population. People are just coming to the city to see the nice environmental areas but also the city itself, Atlanta as well has a very large fast growing population and it's making the city want to expand and Portland would like to as well. Another similarity is how the urban sprawl is taking over suburbs and places where is was natural and green, this is mostly because of the population like I was explaining earlier…

Anna Quindlen wrote “School’s out for summer” to inform people about a problem we have in america and we do have a problem. Many people think as summer as a good thing no school, no waking up early, no more homework, but for some people summer is not the best thing for them some kids may not get to eat as much in the summer many kids eat lunch in school and even breakfast as it say in the text “fifteen million students get free or cut-rate lunches at school. And many of them get breakfast, too”. And that's just one of the problems.…

From city to city, cultures, environments, and beliefs vary immensely. A city means more than simply “a large town.” For example, my own home of Dallastown, Pennsylvania differs drastically from the much larger city of Philadelphia. Where I grew up, the white population is the overwhelming majority; Philadelphia obviously differs in this category. Cities provide a haven of interesting people from conflicting ideologies, color, and financial statuses. My home’s landscape is regularly hilly and forested, whereas Philadelphia is full of skyscrapers, streets, and city-lights. Every town and city is unique in their own sense; landmarks, culture, music, and even transportation define what that place might stand for, or signify. I’ve visited numerous…

Jane Addams (September 6, 1860 - May 21, 1935) was a pioneer settlement social worker, public philosopher, sociologist, author, and leader in women's suffrage and world peace. In an era when presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilsonidentified themselves as reformers and social activists, Adams was one of the most prominent[1] reformers of the Progressive Era. She helped turn the US to issues of concern to mothers, such as the needs of children, public health, and world peace. She said that if women were to be responsible for cleaning up their communities and making them better places to live, they needed the vote to be effective in doing so. Addams became a role model for middle-class women who volunteered to uplift their communities. She is increasingly being recognized as a member of the American pragmatist school of philosophy.[2] In 1931 she became the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and is recognized as the "father" of the social work profession in the United States.…

Who could've thought moving states could cause such a change? I never knew it could… this much. As the for sale was ripped out of my yard, we returned back into my previous house. This was the day we moved to hot and big Texas. We hauled all our boxes, big and small, short and tall, into the moving truck. “Let's go,” my mom yelled. We started our journey to Texas, and I could already feel sorrow in my heart.…

Lawrence, Kansas, the city in which I went to college, is roughly 35 square miles, where as Juneau is over 2,500 square miles. We also only have around 30,000 people here, Lawrence had about 90,000 people in it. I miss Lawrence so much, the feeling of being surrounded by like minded people, stores, and restaurants goes unmatched. Here I see very few people. My day to day interactions usually involve the people I work with, and my family. Everyone is very republican and private. Everyone owns a gun and goes to church with it every Sunday. Why they think they need to bring a gun to church is beyond. Back in lawrence I would meet tons of like minded individuals every day. Id wake up and go to my favorite book store, then have coffee with friends, and maybe catch a show that night. Here we have one bookstore, with a very sad selection mostly covering topics such as hunting and fishing. Here they call it game, but I call it lame. Also everybody here is so old. I miss being surrounded by young blood. The median age here is 37, compared to Lawrence which has a median age of 27. People are constantly talking about the weather, everyday it’s cold, I don't understand how a topic like this can be interesting to anyone, it seriously never…

Living in Florida for almost all of my life, I never experienced nature’s diversity. When the seasons change it is like watching a slow motion movie take place right before my eyes. The trees transform as the fall approaches. From lively green leaves and bushes turn into to red, orange and browns preparing the ambiance of fall’s serenity. The wind begins to pick up relinquishing summer’s heavy humidity. Lasting roughly three months, the warmth begins to diminish and the icy air begins to emerge from nature’s closet. Winters approaching and the lively, colorful leaves begin to disappear by the branch. Winter is here and the ambiance of the whole city has changed; especially when snow is expected. After a long winter night, the sun rises over those same roofs yet when the…
