3-30-12 Wishes The stories “The Third Wish,” and “The Monkey’s Paws” demonstrate a twist in fate. What can three wish do to a normal guy? Can it change his life forever? “The Third Wish,” and “The Monkey’s Paws” are more similar than different because they both involve three wishes. These three wishes brings along tragic accidents, great sadness, and many regrets. In “The Third wish,” Mr. Peters help saves the King of the Forest, who later grants Mr. Peters three wishes. In “The Monkey’s Paws,” Mr. Whites acquire the Monkey’s Paws from Sergeant-Major Morris. A man who helps a swan in need is granted three wishes as a reward. Mr.Peters, who has lived a lonely life, wishes for a wife as beautiful as the forest. Leita, Mr. Peters’ wife, misses the amazing life with her sister, Rhea, as swans. Leita was grateful to be a human, but she misses the old days when she feels a sense of freedom as she soar through the sky. Mr. Peters could not bare the sadness of his wife, so he let her go.
