Comparing The Myelin Sheath And Glial Cells
The neuron is the building block of the brain and central nervous system. It's a specialized cell to transmit information throughout the body. The structure includes the cell body, dendrite, axon, synapse, myelin sheath, and glial cells. The cell body is the factory of the neuron that contains the nucleus which connects to the dendrite and the axon. The cell body is very important as it produces proteins for the other structure to provide energy and make each part work well together. Connecting to the cell body, the dendrite is responsible to receive information and the axon is responsible to send information to other neurons. The synapse then permits a neuron to pass the signal to another neuron. In addition to these four basic structures, the myelin sheath and glial cells are also important as it surrounds the neuron to make them more efficient. …show more content…
The myelin sheath consists of a fatty substance that insulates the axon from an electrical activity and the glial cells provide support as it holds the neurons in place, provides insulation, and remove pathogens and dead
