Managers are the driving forces of an organization they have five functions organizing, planning, staffing, directing and controlling. A manager role is to achieve effective utilization of resources in an organization. Managers have a major role in the decision making process, he has to know how to communicate in bring changes to an organization. He should be able to motivate as well as communicate with his employees. Mangers should be able to solve conflict between employees in to be able to come up with a solution to the problem. He should know that the organization would not be successful if his employees work was not productive. Managers at different levels have different roles like the project manager.
There are four keys to successful project management they are communicate, organize, solve problems/make decisions, and build good teams. The ideal project manager specification would be 80% soft skills and 20% hard skills. The soft skills relate to the project managers attitude and behaviors, the hard skills relate to procedures, actual processes, tools and techniques, organizing, comprising planning, controlling and monitoring.
The role of a project manager is one who looks into the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to describe, organize, oversee and control the various project processes (Project Smart 2000-2010). Project managers have the overall responsibility to the planning and execution of a project. They must posses the skills to have the ability to ask questions, detect unstated assumptions and to be able to resolve interpersonal conflicts. To be an excellent project manager you must posses creativity is what drives the project forward and turn capture peoples attention, structure a manager should know how to work in the structure in not let anything
