Comparing Perri Klasss 'Ambition And Saved'
Learning for me started to become a scary movie I did not want to watch. I did not want to see myself get killed by failure and doubt that I would never make it out alive. Malcolm X in “Saved” talks about how he had to teach himself how to be educated in prison and how he succeeded at teaching himself to read and write. this took a lot of ambition hard work and commitment to want to succeed. Perri Klass, in her essay “Ambition,“ talks about these same qualities, how ambition is working hard and following your dreams. However, people have to be realistic about some of their dreams and know how much they can handle. These two essays stood out to me because I have always had enough ambition to take it upon myself to learn and to teach myself

Ethical Ambition was written by Derrick Bell. Ethical Ambition is a series of meditations that not only challenges us as readers to face some of the most difficult questions that life presents. This was an inspiration because it makes you think and meditate if you are really doing what you want. This book was meant to be an outline for teaching us the potential for success, without betraying our own beliefs or morals. This was very interesting because it makes you think and wonder if all the thing you have done in the past were made with passion, like working hard to get were you are in school. For me it was a wake up call because before I would not even have the passion in my school work, I might have…

Dr. Martin Luther King wrote “The Purpose of Education” and one of his most important statement was that the true goal of education is “intelligence plus character”. I completely agree with this statement because I believe that talent without ambition or goals to follow thru is useless talent. A lot of people during Dr. King’s time were very-well educated but did not have the best intentions at heart. For example, Eugene Talmadge;…

Ambition is the strong desire to achieve a specific goal and is often driven by determination. It can guide people to achieve goals and aspirations, and some are willing to do anything in order to satisfy their ambitious personalities. The French military and political Napoleon Bonaparte successfully defined what ambition truly is by stating, “Great ambition is the passion of a great character. Those endowed with it may perform very good or very bad acts. All depends on the principles which direct them.” In other words, ambition is not only aspirations that will help people strive to their successes, but it can also fuel a dangerous desire that people will manipulate and use toward ruthless acts. The desire to achieve has proven to emphasize…

It’s easy to make a goal rather than to achieve it. However, with determination one can succeed in accomplishing it. I have accomplished one of many goals in my list and that's to attend college. In my family not a lot attended college or even finished high school, so accomplishing this goal is a big subject of matter to my family.Getting this far is even a big accomplishment in my eye’s, especially when you break free from an assembly line of generations that never had attended college. The feeling is still overwhelming, mainly because I’m the first of many generations in my family to accomplish something big like…
