Comparing Flannery O Connor's The Adventures Of Prince Jaron
Jaron is back on the throne, and is happy but misses his home dearly.The night of his parents funeral Jaron is warned by Conner, who is one of his prisoners that people are trying to kill him. That same night, he is attacked and threatened by his good friend, Roden. Roden warns him if he does not come to the pirates soon they will kill him, and all the people he loves. Prince Jaron sets on his journey to the pirates, so he can kill their leader.
He eventually is able to find the pirates through these thieves who lived at the edge of his lands. When he makes it to the pirates they do not know he is Prince Jaron they think he Sage,which is another name he goes by. Imogen, she used to be the maid working for Connor, but now she is a very wealthy. The main characters in the book are Roden, who used to be Sage’s best friend but now he is his worst enemy. Also Jaron who is the king of Carthya, another sub-character is princess Amarinda who is supposed to marry king Jaron.The setting of the story takes place in Carthya, where he was born and grew up for half of his life, the story also takes place in Avenia where he lived for the other half of his life.
The theme in this book is to be brave and not run away from your fears even when things are not going your way, and your country doesn't believe you are supposed to be a king. Sage learns that the odds are not in his favour because it seems like the more he does, the more people are trying to kill him.
