Charles Darwin is well known for being an evolution scientist and is credited for discovering the Theory of Evolution through Natural Selection. Charles Robert Darwin was born in a town called Shrewsbury, Shropshire England on February 12, 1809.
Darwin 's most famous expedition was the HMS Beagle. Being on this voyage helped him to study natural selection from across the world and collect some data to bring back to England. In the beginning, Charles was unsure of sharing his findings and ideas about evolution. Scientist and historians across the world that were alive at the time all had something to say about it. The public thought of the theory as it was “ludicrous” and “bizarre.” On the other hand the scientific community thought of it as “different but interesting and exciting.” Darwin was more concerned about what his fellow scientist think than the general public. Eventually some big names in the scientific community came out and opposed to his theory. Darwin’s old geology teacher, Adam Sedgwick who wrote to Darwin ‘I have read your book with more pain than pleasure… you have deserted the true inductive path’. Inspite of all the criticism, many of the new and upcoming scientist came to his defense. There were disagreements because his theory opposed the idea that God created everything and everyone (Stephen Montgomery, N/A).
