During the 1930's and 1960's there were similarities between the two. The first comparison is the people. In these time periods these people were important. In 1932 President Roosevelt was elected and re-elected in 1936. In 1937 the German Hindenburg air ship burned to the ground in less than 2 minutes killing 33 people. Amelia Earhart was a famous American women pilot disappeared on a flight around the world in July of 1938 people believed she crashed into the Pacific Ocean. 1961 JFK moved into the white house. Where he gives his famous speech. John Glenn became the first man to orbit the earth 3 times in five hour flight in 1962. A will known speech "I have a Dream" was delivered be MLKJ on August 28, 1963. More than 200,000 people attended it. In addition President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on Nov. 22. No one knows for sure who killed him. Walt Disney the creator of Mickey Mouse and other characters of Disney died of cancer on Dec. 15, 1966. Also in 1967 the first heart transplant was performed be Dr. Christiaan Barhard. Lastly in 1968 MLK was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee a long with Robert Kennedy.
There were many choices of entertainment in the 1930's and 1960's. During the 1930's there were movies, and radio. Children watched Snow White or some super hero. In addition children found entertainment listening to the radio with "Little Orphan Annie" she was a brave detective child trying to solve mysteries with her dog Sandy. Also available for fans were pins, books, watches, and other top secret detective things. Going along with children having entertainment adults also did. Most common were movies and singing/dance. A couple popular movies were Gone with the Wind, and The Wizard of Oz was one of the first color motion picture was released in 1939. Finally Shirley Temple was a young curly blonde hair child that sang and tapped dance in 1934 she received an Academy Award in 1934. Entertainment in the 60's revolved mostly around sports. Roger Marks hit 61 homeruns and Mark McGwire finally broke his record in 1998. Wilma Rudolph, an African American women won three gold medals in running. As a child she was ill with Pneumonia and scarlet fever she almost died. In conclusion entertain from these times effect us still today except it progressed.
1930's and 1960's had some important events that occured. People should be aware of these events a few of them have to do with today and have made history. May 1, 1931 the world's tallest building was open by President Hoover in New York. The empire state building was 380 meters high and 102 stories of solid steel frame. Jobs in the 30's were hard to find and food was scared bread lines were long and lasted for hours. The 30's life style was hard adn very stressful. Alot happened in the 1960's such as debates, Olympic Games, and conflicts. The first debate for a presidential election was televised between senator JFK and Richard M. Nixon. 1960 NASA sent ECHO which was the first communications satelite seen with the eye. In addition American UZ spy plane was shot down. Also in 1960 the Olympics were held in Rome, Italy. Lastly In 1961 Kennedy sent a group of people to Vietnam to report the conditions. Things got worse by 1968 late Jan. the PRV and the NFL attacked major cities in South Vietnam, attacks know as Tet Offensive.
In the 1930's fashion was very different than the 1960's. The fashion in the 30's was much different than today also. Both men and women wore hats in the day and night. Women offen wore long halter topped, lace frocks, negligees, and corsets. Men wore suits with matching top hats and over coats. On the other hand in the 1960's the clothes were colorful and for women it showed off their body. Clothes that were considered cool were Hot pants, mini skirts, and space age fashions. There were absolutly no hats or gloves for day wear. Preps wore Madras plaid, oversize hairy sweaters, and painstakingly matched accessories. Mod fashions were bold, solid color contrasts from the op art and pop movements. Both of these fashion were popular to different people in each periods of time.
Many advances have been made in science and medicine since the 1930's. In 1930 pluto was discovered and how people dont consider it a planet because its so small. 1931 was the first use of penicillin in a clinic. Following this further insulin was used to control diabetes in 1937. Inventions in the 60's help us today. Things we use everyday were inventions by the people in the 1960's. 1961 Theodore Malman a physicist perfected the laser now used in surgery, holography, communcations, and printing. Next Douglas Englehart developed the computer mouse and also the five key "corded" key board in 64. After that the first hand held calculater was invented by Texas Instruments in 1967 the cost of it was $2,500 a piece. Lastly the first cash dispensing machine was invented in 1968. Inventions of the 30's and 60's still help us today.
Music of the 1930's is a few of many kinds of music will listen to today. Mostly jazz, country, and dance were listened to by the people. In addition to that peopl attended broadway musicals. Music in the 30's was important to the younger people. Folk rock, Psycheldilic, and Pop were the main types of music in the 1960's. A popular dance of the 60's from the "twist". This dance helped people let go of the cold was tension. The types of music in the 30's and 60's were different.
In conclusion these two time period were different in a few ways. Although both time periods either helped us in some way or had a effect on us. Things that we use now from the 30's is the insulin to help control diabetes. A thing that is used form the 60's is the calulator. Both periods in time were important to relation of today.

The decade of the 1960s is most likely talked about because of the Vietnam War, but most over look what was going on in America. Back in the states the faces of angry anti- war activists were on every major street corner you looked, they protested for peace and to get their brothers out of the jungles where the vicious war took place. The sixties were also the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement for Black Americans to receive racial dignity, economic and political self-sufficiency: with voting rights, and also freedom from white Americans. Many social changes that were addressed in the 1960s are still the issues being confronted today. The '60s was a decade of social and political upheaval. In spite of all the turmoil, there were some positive results: the civil rights revolution, John F. Kennedy's bold vision of a new frontier, and the breathtaking advances in space, helped bring about progress and prosperity.
