In the stories “The Frog Prince” by Gustaf Tenggren and “Hazel Tells LaVerne” by Katharyn Machan are both very similar stories with relation to a frog. The one thing that seems to jump out to the reader is that one story takes place in a totally different time period than the other. These stories have many similarities and differences between each other. The two stories are “Old Ben” and “Fox Hunt”. “Old Ben” is a nonfiction story. It had been a story about a boy who was walking and came along a blacksnake and had befriended him by taking him home and keeping him in the grain bin. At first his father was not in favor of keeping Old Ben, the snake, but after he had realized how much better the snake had been killing the mice than their many other cats he felt it was alright to keep him. Then for many months Blackie disappeared and no one knew wear to find him at so they had just waited, and after many seasons coming and going he had returned in early April and he looked like a long, straggly, flabby, and weak snake. After making a mistake of hiding in the horse’s feed bucket, he had almost been trampled to death but had understood to not go in there anymore but he had made one last fatal mistake. Going into the hog pen. That was where they had seen the last trace of Old Ben, his long skinny track in the smooth sand, leading right up…

In the short story written by Ray Bradbury, Sound of Thunder, the warning for society is about how small changes in the past and can lead to devastating effects in the future, everything in the past has a connection to the future in some way. Before they got out of the time travel machine, Travis clearly explained why they take so many precautions to prevent the change in the future and what can happen in they change something. Then Travis went on to say, “A little error here would multiply in sixty million years, all out of proportion”(Bradbury 4). How if you make one little mistake that doesn’t seem like a big deal, the problem will only grow bigger over time. If they were to accidentally kill a species it could ruin an entire food chain…

“A Sound of Thunder” is a somewhat suspenseful story because you’re not sure what is going to happen and you don’t know if things will be the same when they come back to the future from the past. When both of the hunters arrive home, Eckels notices something out that the sign for the program that takes you back in time has changed very differently. As in every word is spelled wrong.
