February 27, 2012 Kellogg’s frosted mini wheat’s bite size VS Stater Brother’s bite size frosted shredded wheat When Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheat’s was compared to the Stater Brother’s version named Stater Bros. Bite Size Frosted Shredded Wheat, I came to the conclusion that Kellogg’s was the best over all option. Advertisement, cost of product, ingredients, nutrition facts, appearance and taste of the cereals were all taken into consideration when comparing and contrasting both of the products.

Advertisement and cost of the product are one of the first things I look at when selecting a box of cereal. While walking down the cereal aisle at Stater Bothers I noticed that the Kellogg’s frosted mini wheat’s and Stater Brother’s version called bite size frosted shredded wheat were located on the third shelf from the top and were placed next to each other. An eighteen-ounce box of Kellogg’s cereal was priced at $3.99, which was equivalent to $0.22 per ounce of cereal. The box was a light orange color with the words “Excellent source of fiber & made from 100% whole grain” written across the top of the cereal box on a green banner. On the left bottom corner there was a picture of a large white bowl of mini wheat’s and across the bowl there was a yellow banner with the words, “Original lightly sweetened whole grain cereal.” On the other hand the Stater Brother’s version was priced at $2.99 for an eighteen-ounce box, which was equivalent to $0.16 per once of cereal. The box was a dark orange color with the words, “ Bite size frosted shredded wheat” written across the middle of the box. On the left bottom corner there was also a large white bowl of bite size cereal with three red raspberries and a blue banner with the words, “Sweetened whole grain cereal an excellent source of fiber.” Both of the cereal boxes were constructed of one hundred percent recycled

On the other end of the spectrum, Tammie Mason (2011) experimented to see which brand of microwave popcorn yielded the highest percentage of popped kernels to determine the best value. Ms. Mason experimented with four brands of microwave popcorn, three are major brands and one is a generic: Act II, Pop Weaver, Orville Redenbacher and Sure Fine (generic). Ms. Mason's experience with generic grocery products have been positive and generally satisfactory. Therefore, her initial inclination is that the generic Sure Fine would be just as good as a name brand product. After she reviewed other similar studies, she predicted the name brand microwave popcorn would produce a better value. Her conclusion determined that Orville Redenbacher was the clear leader and the generic Sure Fine proved to be the worst in terms of value.…

We are all familiar with Skittles. Miniscule, yet delicious, most of us would like nothing more than to pop a couple Skittles into our mouths. Remarkably, Skittles and Tootsie Pops are largely alike. Both candies use the same ingredients. They share a handful of ingredients. This includes corn syrup, sugar, citric acid, as well as artificial and natural flavors. Skittles also have a hard, sugary shell that surrounds that soft, inner component of the Skittle. Additionally, Skittles has flavors identical to Tootsie Pops. Grape, orange, and blue raspberry are these flavors. This is akin to a Tootsie Pop. Tootsie Pops have an inner layer. Notwithstanding, the two tasty treats have their differences. Skittles are not suckers, while Tootsie Pops are.…

PRODUCT REFORMULATION: Wheaties pioneered ready to eat cereal isle followed by the other companies in the US cereal market. However, the challenge for cereal marketers is not only to leverage the traditional bond with breakfast cereal but also to offer innovative products that suit the diverse tastes and eating habits of today’s cereal consumers, if they want to consistently attract consumers and survive competition. The company has a clear brand identity “The Breakfast Bowl” but it failed to retain the interest of its customers by concentrating less on product innovation and its taste and paying more attention to their laurels. Kellogg’s is one of world’s most ethical companies for many reasons. To start with, the Founder W.K. Today, Kellogg’s uses 100% recycled packaging. In addition, Kellogg’s created a Social Responsibility Committee in 1979 that now deals with environmental concerns, health & safety, addiction and abuse, and other issues that impact employees and communities.…
