In That Was Then, This Is Now by S.E. Hinton, there are two main female characters, Angela Shepard and Cathy Carlson. They both play big parts in the book, but they are two totally different characters with barely anything in common. Bryon compares the two girls a few times throughout the book. Cathy was sweet, but she didn’t take people’s nonsense.…
When you are in the childhood age group, things that seem big to you actually are not all that big. For example, when Dennis' mom tells him he has to go to Margaret's house while she goes to work all summer, he acts like it is the end of the world. In the adolescent age group things get a little more stressful. Some things that are stressful for the adolescents are keeping up their grades because school has gotten harder, getting a job, making the team, and things like that. With the adulthood and older adulthood age group comes the realization of necessities needed to just get by because it is the first time you are supporting yourself. As time goes on you get more and more worries like; house payments, car payments, life insurance, taxes, bills, etc. Also, if you decide to have kids then you have to think about the costs of diapers, clothes, bottles, milk, baby food, and other baby necessities. The worries and stresses go on and on and seem to never…

According to Erikson’s life stages, as people age they are faced with developing integrity or falling into despair (Carver & Scheier, 2004). At people age, the finiteness of life is realized. Some find a need to review their life, while others put up guards against what for them could be a painful experience (Corey, Corey, & Corey, 2008). Successful aging is the ability to reflect back on one’s life and find meaning and happiness, as opposed to despairing from a lack of purpose and perceived failures. “To explain the contribution of reminiscence to successful aging, four processes are often mentioned: identity-forming and self-continuity; enhancing…
Throughout your life the process of ageing is constantly influencing your identity. As William Shakespeare wrote “All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts,…”. Our identity is forever changing and this is because we are forever ageing. Throughout out the three main stages of ageing – youth, middle age, elderly- we don’t just age physically, we age physiologically as well. Hence as we age we mature, become wiser and more aware of the world around us. As of this our views change from each stage of life, thus inflicting our identity to change. Although some people find this transition from one stage of life to the next to be difficult and dread upon its occurrences whereas others enjoy ageing and just take it as it comes.…
I feel that friends have become more reliable and less flakey. I have enjoyed everything I’ve learned over time from family, friends, teachers and mentors. I also really like that boys are becoming men and not toying with my heart as much, but obviously I know they still have some growing up to do. I don’t like some of the new responsibilities that come with aging. I definitely took for granted everything I was given when living at home, like free food, clothes, gas, toothpaste and all the other little necessities. I also wish I could rewind time and enjoy school while it was easy. I also don’t like the loss of creativity and imagination of growing up. My mind used to run wild and everything I did, I did because I wanted to do it, I was never afraid of what others thought about me in the process. Now I’m sad that I care so much about what people think, instead of just doing the things that make me happy with no thought behind…
Unlike most people there was no single event that marked my transition into adulthood. For me, it was a series of events that led to my epiphany that my childhood was over.…

Growing up can be a world of confusion. Trending from what am I going to do when I get older? Does my hair really look good like that? When will I have time to study for that test or will I get invited to that party; however ageing offers some benefits as well. Adolescents and young adults begin to notice ideas, feelings, and perspectives, other than their own. Coming of age involves recognizing different perspectives.…
Transitions to adulthood are usually positive events, be they quinceneras, bat mitzvahs, or just getting older. Most people see transitioning into adulthood as something beautiful and amazing. Unfortunately, what people fail to understand is that not everyone’s life is exactly the same, and we all manage to fall into that assumption that it happens at the same time for everyone, and nobody ever comes out with any negative results.…
Deep inside every single one of us is a younger, a more youthful self. Although it seems as if we’re completely different people as we grow, that isn’t the case. We are simply a more mature version of our old self shaped by our previous life experiences.…
During each of these life stages we gain and learn new abilities and information. We also grow and develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Every individual will also experience the following:…
When we are young we never think about what we are going to be like when we are in our eighties or nineties. Well at least I have not really put a thought into it. But when I think of old people I think of gray hair with lots of wrinkles whom tend to walk slow. There is more to just physically getting old. We tend to live in the present and not really…
