Both Roosevelt and Wilson believed in Americans right to education and fair business. Roosevelt believed that as book-learning was necessary as well as practical training and Wilson wanted all citizens to have access to education. Roosevelt demolished major monopolies whereas Wilson worked to end child labor. In contrast they differ in business regulation. Roosevelt believed in overseeing businesses with regulations and Wilson believed creating a strong foundation for it and then backing off.     Regulation of big business played a major role in the Progressive Era. Theodore Roosevelt believed that it was the president's job to intervene in the nation's business industry.
