Compare And Contrast Paper Towns And Perks Of Being A Wallflower
The two books I chose to read this marking period were Paper Towns by John Greene and Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I'm happy to say that I was very pleased with the books I had chosen, each novel was unique in its own way which kept me reading rather than putting the book down. Both Paper Towns and Perks of being a wallflower deal with the trials of “coming of age”, social Issues in growing up and finding out what kind of person you are inside.

In the novel Paper Towns by John Greene, readers are introduced to the main character Quentin and the “Love of his life” Margo Spiegelman. The story grows off when they find a dead body when they are xx years old. We learn how different the two characters are by how they react.

In John Green’s Paper Towns, the main character Quentin Jacobsen is following Margo Roth Spiegelman’s mysterious breadcrumb trail to unveil her location. After that night, Margo left a series of obscure clues meant only for Quentin to find. Using this trail, Quentin uses a fine-tooth comb and finds Margo occupying an old, abandoned general store. In conclusion, I would recommend the novel ‘Specky Magee and the season of champions’ to all teenagers as it is a good book to read that most people can relate to. The authors Garry Lyon and Felice Arena used characterization to portray the different types of teens and they used real themes and issues that occur in the Australia today. The literary aspects in this book were near sound and I would rate this book at about…

In the novel Paper Towns, by John Green, Quentin Jacobsen is not the typical protagonist, as he lacks the adventurous and daring personality that is generally associated with a hero. Viewed by the other characters of the novel as quiet and obedient, Quentin strays far from his comfort zone and challenges others’ opinions of him, as he embarks on a long journey to find his friend, Margo Roth Spiegelman. In this coming of age novel, Quentin transforms drastically and embraces an aspect of his personality that had not existed prior to his great adventure. By countering the image that his friends and family had of him throughout the book, Quentin becomes a much stronger person and eventually realizes all that he is capable…

“Two Kinds” written by Amy Tan and “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman are stories and reading that show the family relationships. They are two different stories but have quite similarities. The similarity between the two stories is to me is the reaction of their love one when at time they are too assertive, forceful and overbearing towards people they care. In “Two Kinds” story the author demonstrates the relationship between a mother and daughter which is the outline of the main character Jing-mei Woo’s childhood and the effects of her mother’s high expectations for her life. Whereas, “The Yellow Wallpaper” is a short story that illustrate the bond between a husband and wife. According to the Suess, Barbara…

The book and the movie for The Perks of Being a Wallflower are extremely different, and I believe that the movie is much better than the book. The book is written much differently than the movie. There are lots of scenes that are in the book but not in the movie and that are in the movie not the book. The movie focuses less on the bigger, depressing topics than the book does. The characters in the movie are also much different than they are in the book. Their personalities are very different in the movie than the author described them as in the book.…

The book I decided to read was The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards. I chosed this book because it demonstrated real life situations, teaching us lessons that 9th graders can use in their later future while creating fascinating storyline to keep the story entertaining. This story is about a couple who had a twins but one came with down syndrome. So the husband who is also delivering the babies decided to send the baby away before the gas on his wife wore off. He had the nurse take the baby girl to a institution, but instead she kept the baby left the city and raised the child as her own. In my opinion i would highly recommend this book for 9th graders to read, it has…
