While the family in Father Knows Best(1950s) has resemblance to the Cosby Show(1980s), about a focus on the families in each sit com. However; the way the two-interoperated life is not the same. The two sit coms have many similarities and differences, which took place in two different time periods as well. In comparison, the family in Father Knows Best is very comparable to the family in the Cosby Show due to the way the families acted towards one another. For instance, the families offer a very warm and welcoming vibe as soon as the viewer engages to the televising and making them draw comparisons of the two families. However; Being out dated is another relation the two shows have in common because of the lifestyle of the sitcom. As in Father …show more content…
The shows were set in different time periods, causing the sets to have different interest. In the Cosby Show, the show was very upbeat, the family was a little bit more realistic and relatable towards todays era. However; Father Know Best is a classic and modern which causes the show to be scripted, trying to be that “perfect American Family”. Another difference which causes the shows to coexist Is the humor which is displayed throughout the show. In the Cosby Show, the kids are very different than FKB children because of the FKB children are so conscious themselves and uptight. However; the children in the Cosby Show are very relative to the show and have a major impact. For example, if the family had a comic dance routine like the Cosby Show during the ending credits, the children in FKB would not even dare to participate. Both shows lived life as a family but one family was a traditional black family while the other family was a traditional white family. Additionally, trying to send a message through each family, for instance the Cosby family is a symbol for African Americans, as the FKB family is trying to show the life of a traditional American

This assignment proved to be a very difficult one for me, for the very fact that I just don’t watch a lot of television at all. I don’t find much of anything at all that is entertaining to me. So many of the sit coms today have such a dysfunctional portrayal of families and I find that many of them down right degrade and show nothing but disrespect for the father’s especially. Nonetheless I chose to use “The Cosby Show” as my program of choice because it is one I used to watch when I did find time for television viewing and found it somewhat entertaining.…

The similarities between “Franny and Zooey” and “Drake and Josh” are that family both have a comforting feeling around them when they are trying to console or comfort another person. Example: When Zooey was trying to comfort his sister by getting their brother Buddy on the phone, when it was really just Zooey and Josh consoles his brother when he runs in to Opera. Both of the story/show also has a bath scene that is funny/snarky. Example: At the begin of Zooey’s part of the story we are in a bathroom as Zooey’s getting ready to go somewhere and we…

In this week’s application project essay, I would like to compare an older television show that projected family life as it was in the 1930’s as compared to how family is viewed from a sociological viewpoint today. “The Walton’s” may not have been an idealistic portrait of family, but the series did portray family as it really was in that era, since it was based on the autobiographical writings of Earl Hamner, Jr.…

First of all family can be viewed in many ways. In Fahrenheit 451 the family´s do not love each other and are not real families. At one point, we figure out that Mildred thinks that the TV is her family and thinks they have a close relationship. This is really different from our society because we have actual families that we were born with. But we are similar…

There are undeniable similarities between both of the stories in how family is viewed and represented. In “Everyday Use”, Dee tries to reject her family heritage by changing her name even though she knows very well that she was named after her aunt Dicie. Similarly, in “Everything That Rises Must Converge”, Julian in a way rejects his own heritage and is embarrassed any time that his mother brings it up. The main characters Dee and Julian are very similar in that they do not fully grasp the importance of their families. In the story they both claim that their mothers simply do not understand their heritage. However, both mothers in either story do in fact see the true value of their family backgrounds and they both recognize where they came from and the struggles that they faced to get to where they are now.…

Television network ABC Family’s breakout comedy series, Modern Family, is a show full of life lessons and hidden meanings. Most television shows nowadays are all about sex, alcohol, and the dramas that occur because of them. Modern Family is not an exception, however it focuses more on the family aspect of life’s many dramas. On the surface, it is similar to the sex and drugs filled television shows that consume the media these days, but underneath that surface each episode has a moral to be learned, and the show overall represents many different assumptions America makes on what a “typical” family is.…
