Did you know that the Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 vortex engine gets 20 miles per gallon on the highway while the ford F150 5.4 triton gets 16 miles per gallon on highway, Chevrolet gets 4 more mile per gallon than Ford? Today I am going to compare and contrast the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 vortec vs the 2008 Ford f150 5.4 triton in three different ways, the engine, Suspension, and safety. As you already know from the statement above, Chevy has better fuel economy than Ford. Let’s begin with the Ford f150 suspension, this truck is equipped with the double wishbone suspension which allows you to have a good straight ride but that’s it. While the Silverado’s long and short arm suspension allow you to have a comfortable ride on straight streets and on corners. Also the suspension that Chevy offers is a heavy-duty style which you can put more weight on the truck and it will hold just fine while the suspension that Ford offers is less stronger and might not handle the extra weight well. Both Ford and Chevy offer a different suspension than the stock one, Ford offers the sport suspension that makes the truck have a lower stance than the stock suspension. However, Chevy offer an off-road suspension that makes the truck have a higher stance and have more ground clearance than the original suspension. Now we do the transition from suspension to the tires and rims, Ford only offers all terrain tires but they give you optional rim sizes they offer the 18 inch rim and the 20 inch rim which will make your truck look nicer. On the other hand, Chevy offers all terrain tires and all-season tires and it also offer the 17 inch rim and the 18 inch

They have different variations of two-wheel drive trucks with stock suspension, four-wheel drive trucks with stock suspension, but the for the pure off-roaders Chevrolet has created the four-wheel drive with Z71 suspension. Any truck that has this suspension is ready for the roughest of terrain. The Z71 package includes bigger, 18 inch aluminum wheels which are fitted on with off-road blackwall tires. Blackwall meaning, a more aggressive tread pattern and thicker rubber to withstand puncture wounds. So not only does the truck sit higher off the ground for more clearance but also gives it a more aggressive stance to take on deep ruts or large bumps. The biggest difference between stock and Z71 is the suspension. Z71 provides the truck with specially tuned shock coils and mono tube shocks giving the overall suspension better support for the truck itself. Other features are included in the Z71 package too like its rear locking differential to improve power in the drive shaft. This means that all of the wheels are moving with the same amount of horsepower, rather than the wheels individually feeling whether or not they have traction beneath them and adjusting torque by themselves. Thus giving the truck a better advantage on slippery roads or muddy…
